St. Nilus of Sora Missionary Society
SOBORNOPRAVNA

Welcome to the St. Nilus of Sora Missionary Society Website

We propose to be a traditionalist Orthodox monastic society commited to the Apostolic Mandate of being "in but not of this world" and preaching the Gospel by a witness of prayer and service.
We follow the the Julian Calender with all services sung and celebrated in English
.

Our community is presently forming under the protection of the omophor and blessing of His Beautitude, Metropolitan +STEPHAN and the Metropolian See of Cleveland of the Ukrainian Autocephalous Orthodox Church of North and South America- SOBORNOPRAVNA. Our Society has been canonically erected within the Archeparchy of Cleveland and the United States within the Metropolia. The Society is under the spiritual direction of His Eminence, +MICHAEL, Protosyngellos/Coadjutor Archbishop to the Metropolia and Archbishop of South America. The St. Nilus Society is located in Atlanta, GA at the present time and by God's grace and providence, we hope to one day obtain property for a monastery. St. Nilus has played a key role in guidance and intercession for us and in the like, we have chosen place our Society under the patronage of this God-pleasing saint. We seek to be true missionaries through 'gentle evangelism' providing a true Orthodox Christian witness by presence.

The Society's primary apostolate is that of outreach to the youth and the disadvantaged persons. We are active in prison ministry and other types of social outreach. In addition, we currently publish a radical 'zine' called New-Martyr Nail Death that speaks of the reality of suffering and the Cure which is Jesus Christ. The Nail is a gritty, "in your face", down to earth presentation of GenX culture and the depth and richness of Patristic Tradition that cuts through the illusion and prelest, shining the Divine Light into soul-thirsty hearts.

a call to the monastic vocation, please contact Hieromonk Fr. Nestor.
