Churches Important Partners of Habitat

"We may disagree on all sorts of things - baptism, communion, what night to have prayer meeting, and how the preacher should dress. But, thank God, we can agree on a nail, and the use of the hammer as an instrument to manifest God's love." Millard Fuller, Founder of Habitat for Humanity

WHAT DO YOU NEED?"

This wonderful question was presented to Newton County Habitat for Humanity by the Covington First United Methodist Church.

They inspected the site and sent materials. On the Day of Service, a large group came ready to paint, nail, and do whatever was necessary. The church even had a bobcat out to help grade the lot.

A team of carpenters quickly went to work on the front porch and new stairs for the house. Since one of the children in the family has medical problems, it was decided to build a ramp from the back door to the driveway in case she would need a wheelchair.

The day passed quickly and it was decided that more needed to be accomplished. With this in mind, this dedicated and unselfish group arranged for an additional workday to complete all the projects.

Covington First United Methodist Church truly lives God's commandment: "You shall love your neighbor as yourself."

Because of their commitment and enthusiasm, Newton Habitat was be able to complete the house and allow the family the opportunity of homeownership.

Thank you Covington First United Methodist Church.
