I'm very pleased to bring you this interview with Mike of Seventh Star They are a young band who you will be hearing plenty of in the future.
This interview was conducted in November of 1999.

JIM: Where are you guys from?
Mike: Seventh Star is a Christian hardcore band from Ocala, FL...

JIM: How did you come up with the name Seventh Star?
MIKE: This is a long one to type, but hear goes....Seventh Star is from the Bible, it is a warning to Christians out there who are living a luke warm life....the seventh star(or church) is Laodicea(in Revelation 3:14-22) in this city the problem was that all the people were neither hot nor cold for Christ...in other words it wasnt Christians and non-Christians...and Christ said that since they were neither hot nor cold, He would spit them out of His mouth because they are lukewarm! So seventh star means either be 100% percent for Christ, like He wills us to be, or dont even waste your time...if you arent 100%, repent and change!!! Did that make sense? Its way better in person and when the whole band is adding to it....

JIM: How would you describe your music?
MIKE: It is brutal metal core, with crazy breakdowns.

JIM: What groups would you compare your music to?
MIKE: XdiscipleX, Overcome, Zao(old)...

JIM: How can we go about purchasing your music, finding out about upcoming concerts, or even booking concerts?
MIKE: Our web site is: http://members.xoom.com/seventhstar, all the booking and show info is located there...our email address is: seventh_star@hotmail.com. We are recording a split CD or 7" with a local band called embrace of a child, it was delayed a little because we just got a new drummer, because the old one moved to Mass. To go to a music college and be with his family....so our split should be out soon now that we have a new drummer...and our first shows back with the new drummer will be in Melbourne, FL the 8th and the 9th.....

JIM: Where would you like to see Seventh Star in 3 years?
MIKE: Still playing shows and spreading the Good News of Christ!!! But I can't look into the future, and I know Christ is coming soon...

JIM: What is your opinion on this rise of evil and violence that is going on with America and it's youth?
MIKE: Well like the Bible says, nothing new will happen under the sun(Ecclesiastes 1:9-10), nothing that Christ didn't know would happen...He is in control of everything! We live in a sinful world(Romans 3:23)! All we as Christians can do is live an obedient(1 Peter 1:13-16), Spirit-filled life(Ephesians 5:17-18, Galatians 5:25), reflecting as much of Christ as we can, and hope that He will use us to save as many people as possible! I think it is sad how bad it has gotten, but I know Christ is with me and all of His followers, and He is the only hope we have!

JIM: What is your opinion on the state of Christianity in America?
MIKE: I think it is a blessing, in which we don't deserve, that we can worship God so freely, but it stinks that abortion, suicide, drugs, adultery, and such are so common among so called Christians...my only opinion is that all Christians need to turn to GOD, prayer, and the Bible with all of our problems and not to the world.....

JIM: Finally, would you share your testimony with us?
MIKE: Okay...I used to be in an animal rights band, and at that time my dad was forcing me to go to church, so I kinda didn't like the whole church thing, but I always had questions in my mind about who, how, and why things would happen...all of my friends in the band were kinda the same as me, accept one of them who thought he had been saved...we all kinda decided that God is God, but we didn't commit to His leadership yet...like we were pretty much "LUKEWARM"...we played a show with a certain Christian metal band called underoath, we loved what they did, they played awesome and so Spirit filled, and we decided that we wanted what they had...after becoming friends with them and seeing how a real Christian lives there life, we decided to become a Christian band..after playing one show as a Christian, animal rights, straight edge band, our singer decided that he wasn't Christian..in fact he decided he was a satanist, so the band broke up then we started an ALL Christian band...Seventh Star...by this time, I read the Bible and considered myself a Christian, but I still hadnt committed my life to Him...we finally got a singer, his name was Jai...he had been Christian for a long time...we all(including me) kinda picked on him because he didn't cuss, and had never kissed a girl and didn't plan on having sex until he was married...after hanging out with him a couple of weeks and practicing a couple of times, he started to pick up on our bad habits, for instance he started saying the perverted things and jokes we would say and he started to cuss a little...I saw how he was before and I confronted him about it, he agreed it was wrong...that night I went home thinking about why he had been so pure before and what we had started to do to him...after pondering it for a couple of days, I stopped cussing...this is the first I guess fruit that I obtained, this started my life commitment to Christ...the other guys in the band saw what I did and made fun of me, and said..."I'm so much holier than though" about me and stuff...but it didn't take long until they started to catch on...Christ used Jai, the kids from Underoath, and my dad to set me straight...I look back and remember why I lived, I had no reason! all I had was hate for drug users, and lust for girls...those were my only gods...my life has changed so dramatically since those days, and I thank the Heavenly Father for that, I owe Him so much...everything. before now I never had a reason to be happy. Now I don't have a reason to be sad.
