Winnie the Pooh aka Pooh Bear or Pooh for short. Pooh is a bear of very little brain, probably because he is stuffed with fluff. He belongs to Christopher Robin. Pooh lives in the 100 acre wood as does the other Pooh characters. Pooh is very kind hearted and as Piglet once said "For a bear of very little brain, a smart one!"
Piglet. Piglet is Pooh's best friend (next to Christopher Robin). He is a very small and timid animal; "frightfully fearful" he has said to describe himself at times. Though shy, he is very loyal to his friends and actually rather braver than he thinks! Piglet lives in a grand home in the middle of a beech tree and is rather obsessed with its cleanliness.
Tigger. Tigger is a bouncy somewhat overbearing tiger. He is always pouncing in on his friends rather unexpectedly. Tigger is a great fun lover with a tail made of a spring! He is always making a mess out of things unintentionally. Though he is sometimes too bouncy, his friends love him just the way he is. The most important thing about Tiggers is that he is the only one!
Eeyore, the gloomy old donkey who is forever losing his tail.. He is stuffed with saw dust and his poor tail being attached only by a small nail, just keeps falling off. Perhaps that's why he so pitiful all the time. He really is a sweet little guy but rather pessimistic. He lives in a house of stacked twigs that never seems to stand more than a few precious moments at a time. As Eeyore says...."not much of a house....just right for not much of a donkey".
Rabbit. Mr. Know it all....or at least thinks he does (isn't that how it usually works?). He is the responsible one who tries to teach everyone else how things should be done. His brilliant ideas usually backfire and he turns out to be the one learning a lesson. Rabbit is an obsessive gardener who has a never ending battle with bugs who wish to feast on his produce.
Wise old Owl. Wise and a bit senile. This bird can talk for days at a time without taking a breath. His audience usually has to interrupt or simply fade away as Owl entertains himself with family history. When Owl is wrong he never admits it because he never realizes it. He seems content to live in his world which dangles somewhere between reality and reminiscence.
Kanga and Roo. Loving mother hen and her adorable but typical (approximately) 6 year old son. They live together in a quaint little house in the wood. Kanga is usually busy doing motherly things while Roo finds great satisfaction playing with the gang (until nap time anyway).
Christopher Robin (Milne). He is the little boy who owns the adventurous gang. He is Pooh's best friend, especially when it comes to doing nothing. Christopher lives nearby so that he can help his friends with their problems.
Gopher. Always tunneling about and popping in, but only briefly for 'he's not in the book you know'. Becomes easily agitated when people constantly just drop in. This little guy is a major work-a-holic!
Heffalump. A creature of extreme appearances rumored to be related to the elephant. Usually they are spotted or striped. They are thieving hunny stealers and are often seen socializing with the dreaded 'Woozles'.
