Fu Manchu - The Action is Go

My favorite (so far) of the plethora of Fu Manchu albums and 45's available. This album rocks hard and the songwriting is sickeningly good. Scott Hill can write choruses like nobody else, and when you're in your convo van with "SnAkE eYeS" sprayed down the side doin' 65 in a school zone, you'll want this album with you. Hell yeah.

Pink Floyd - Dark Side of the Moon

What can I say except for this: Dark Side of the Moon is the best album ever made in the history of music. Why you ask? Because it is a complete concept from start to finish with beautiful highs and lows and an absolute mastery of songwriting and musical instrumentation. There is no best track on this album, they all flow perfectly together; although, "Any Colour You Like" is a standout and the perfect transition between "Us and Them" and "Brain Damage." If you don't already own this album, I pity you.

Quasimoto -- The Unseen

Upon first listen of this album, you view Madlib as a weirdo who just smokes a lot of marijuana. After subsequent listens with The Unseen, you start to realize you're listening to a beautifully conceptualized album. I feel Quasimoto as a struggle of the little producer that could and when the album ends, Quasimoto has shared his vision with you. The beats are either moody and subversive, or lighthearted and playful and Madlib definitely pulled choice samples. Check the distortion of "It Ain't Hard to Tell" on "Astro Travellin'."

Reflection Eternal - Train of Thought

While not as overly wowing as Black Star, Kweli steps up with some brilliant lyrics and his choruses and refrains are always sharp and provoking. To say he stepped out of Mos Def's shadows would be an untruth, as Kweli is the more lyrical skilled of the two. Near the end, I get a little sick of some of the love songs, and the album lags at times. Overall though, I'm glad I purchased this and still listen to it on a regular basis.

Silkk the Shockker -- Charge It 2 Da Game

Why? Why did I feel the need to be accepted by my peers and do the "in" thing at the time (9th grade)? I had Sunz of Man and Silkk in my hands and I chose Silkk b/c everyone else told me how "It Ain't My Fault" was the "bomb." This will be the first and last No Limit album I ever purchase in my lifetime...except if Del and Mia X ever hook up on a collabo; working title: "DeltroSoldierTankDog." Speaking of tanks and dogs, that's about all this album consists of, except for the slight gritty street plays about cocaine and yatches. And yet, I will never sell this album.
