Background
Remy LeBeau, adopted son of Jean-Luc LeBeau, was raised in the Thieve's Guild in New Orleans Louisiana. He was trained how to be a good thief. Talent made him a great one. One day while roof combing, young Remy saw a beautiful girl about to walk into a trap by the Assassins Guild Trap. Remy, being the kind of guy that never lets a damsel get distressed, hopped down and broke up the trap. He soon found out though, that Bella Donna Boudreaux needed no saving. Belle was the daughter of the premier family of the Assassins Guild, trained since birth in the killing arts. Gambit soon fell in love with Belle, and the two were wed in an effort to cement the truce between the Thieves and Assassins. Not everyone was pleased with the truce though, Belle's brother Julien challenged Remy to a duel. When Julien lost, the Assassins demanded pennance of Remy. INstead of execution, Remy was banished from the Guilds by his own adopted Father.
A Chance Meeting
After his banisment. Remy toured the world doing all he knew how, stealing. On a fluke, Remy was one day trying to steal the same thing as the X-Man Storm. he two ended up working together to thwart teh plans of teh evil Shadow King, who was after them both. When Storm came to her senses, she was returning to the X-Men and invited Gambit to join.
Bumpy Roads
After failing to win the affections of Jean Grey (Mrs. Scott Summers now), Gambit turned his attention toward the southern belle (no pun intended) Rogue. After many months of flirtation the two fell for each other. The bad partis that Rogue cannot have ANY skin to skin contact or she willsap the strength, memories, and powers of her victim. When Remy and Rogue finally kissed, she left Remy in a coma, and saw somehing so terrible in his mind she freaked out and took off. Well, whatever that memory was, she repressed it and returned to the X-Men. When the memory resurfaced, it was revealed that Remy was responsible for the Mutant MAssacre and the formation of the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse. Gambit survived the ensuing trial, but Rogue promptly dumped Gambit in the middle of Antarctica.
That Was Then, This Is Now!!
After many months, Gambit returned to the X-Men and was, surprisingly, greeted warmly. Rogue and Gambit are still not together, and relationships are still bumpy. For more of Gambits current exploits, see my Issues page.
Gambit in the Age of Apocalypse
In the AoA, GAmbit was still falling hard for Rogue, unfortunately she fell hard for his best friend Magneto. Gambit left the X-Men, and formed a New Age Robin Hood band called the X-Ternals. Gambit also became involved with intergalactic teleporter, Lila Cheney.
