A wise man, thought to be so by all who knew him, decided to build a new house. He put great thought into just how the house was to be.

Each timber and board were selected by hand all that did not meet his measure was throwed to the side. Each nail was set by his hand lest he should find fault with the carpenter. The fireplace he made from stones that where hand picked and washed clean by the mountain stream. Great windows were set into solid walls to bring in the sunshine that had came into his life. The house was built strong and the winds could not make it yield. He knew that no matter the storms that might rage he would be protected in this great house that he had built. He moved all his belongings into this place and opened his heart that like a fortress had been closed. Good cheer and faith did riegn suprene until things made him leary.

He was made aware that the land he had built his house on was not the fertile soil that could grow the wild berries of summer. In the stead it was a cold hard stone and what soil there was grew only bitter things. The spring came and the timbers that were so carefully selected began to bow for they were not yet cured of the tree from which they sprang. The nails that he had so firmly set began to loosen their hold and the boards began to peel away. Still the man believed in his house and tried to repair all damage that was waged upon it. As the fall approached and fire was needed to remove the chill from the bones, a great fire was built in the fire place but it would not be persuaded to draw and filled the house with smoke so that no beauty could be seen. The polished rocks worn smooth by the mountain streans shed tears for the place from whence they came. The fire burned low and produced little heat still the man tended it carefully that it might survive. The winters storm began to fury blow the great windows that were set to admit the light and sunshine now allowed the cold and darkness of winters day. The once strong house made to withstand the winters winds began to sag and the timbers did complain.

The man again having no choice left to him closed his heart and shut out from his mind all the things that he onced believed to be true. His house was doomed when he lay the first stone on a foundation that was made of lies. He chose to close his eyes to many things until at last he closed his heart.
