Honey Wheat Bread Recipe

In a small bowl pour in 1/2 cup of lukewarm water. Sprinkle in the sugar and dissolve. Add the yeast. Allow the yeast to activate. This will take about 5 minutes. After 4 minutes, stir the yeast mixture and add to a larger bowl. Add 1 cup of whole wheat flour and the salt. Stir together and set aside for a 1/2 hour. In another bowl add the rest of the flour. Then pour in the whole wheat sponge that sat for 1/2 an hour. Add in the honey, egg, oil and the warm milk. Mix together and pour out onto a surface with sum whole wheat flour sprinkled on top. Knead the dough for 8 - 10 minutes or 6 minutes if you are using a kitchenaid mixer. Place dough into a greased bowl and cover, allow to rise in a warm place for about 30 minutes. Punch down and form into a round loaf. Place onto a greased cookie sheet, cover and allow to rise again. Preheat oven to 350 and bake for about 1 hour. Cool
