"Wherefore do I Seek?"

C.J. Ingerson
12/30/98

Verse 1
********

Wandered off again today
to the joy of air and wind
bringing me to the peace
of the mountain or valley
calling upon all nature
as it to rally around one
and to be within a universe
so great and awesome
to behold knowing I was part.

Verse 2
********

My mind seeking for truth
my soul sought for peace
yet at rest not with the who
but the why of my search
for an attribute to call one
as I've seen others before
achieve within a life of strife
yet they found happiness
with the rest; of the weary.

Verse 3
********

My search for the most sought
of all the attributes of earth
and sky, and universe and all
that ever has and ever will be
for I sought the attribute called
by most love, but by God charity
and today almost beyond myself
I seek to understand better why
it is the most precious to need.

Verse 4
********

I've been commanded in scripture
to seek and attain this attribute
that my life seems consumed
to find new meaning and honor
not of men but of my dealing
with those around me in life,
for is not charity a kindness
in judging others not at all
but to be willing to give my all?

Verse 5
********

Then again wherefore do I
but a man seek for another
this attribute called charity
and it is within the scriptures
that man cannot be saved
without this understanding
and feeling towards all others
therefore do I seek for I know
that they too might have this gift.

Verse 6
********

In the solace of forgotten time
on bended knee inside of space
it is a wish of kindness now
as when you find one lost, alone
or dirty and cold from hunger
in fright by those who pass by;
do we really understand what
it means to be about the business
Heavenly Father sent us to do?

Verse 7
*******

Wandering in valley and mountains
my mind seeks the answers of time
and the space of universes beyond
is what I need most to develop now
the loving ability to endure all things
becoming more meek and humble
submissive and willing to serve others
in obedience to the commandment
seeking the most sought gift of charity.
