"Where Did You Come From?"

C.J. Ingerson
12/16/98

Verse 1
********

Whenever I've needed someone
there you are just standing near
whether the battle was lost or won
I never had to worry or ever fear.

Verse 2
********

When I found myself in need
you always had a way to see
with an idea you'd plant a seed
then with time it would become me.

Verse 3
********

Where would I be today without
you standing with me my friend
who would listen when I'd shout
for help, or nourishment then?

Verse 4
********

Your words are a debt with me
I'll never be able to ever repay
for because of you I can see
and have learned to love everyday.

Verse 5
********

So my friend you see in me
what is a reflection of you
I'm only become in life to be
because you always were true.

Verse 6
********

Life is not always fair it seems
yet if it were not for you now
in my eyes would be many beams
but your insights would not allow.

Verse 7
********

You lifted me from here to there
as if I were a child instead a man
it is almost as if it hasn't been fair
I too should have helped you to stand.

Verse 8
********

But you never asked a thing from me
just taught me and carried me uphill
until I could stand, then walk, then see
so that my dreams someday I'd fulfill.

Verse 9
*******

Yes my friend your words are my debt
that everyday I work harder to repay
but never will I match your great step
yesterday, tomorrow, but I'll try today.
