"Did You Ever...?"

cji
3/26/99

Verse 1
********

Awoke early this morning
really jump started ready to go
wasn't in any kind of mourning
was at work my stuff going to show.

Verse 2
********

Decided on taking a hot shower
and not take the time to have a bath
then I found there was no power
but didn't want to show my wrath.

Verse 3
********

So in the darkness I stumbled
to search for the electrical board
then I heard my stomach rumble
did an about face, tripped on a cord.

Verse 4
********

Finally made through this flash
and then found the open breaker
then had to make another dash
at work they would think I was a faker.

Verse 5
********

But not deterred I continue on
cutting myself while shaving
this is really no type of con
almost started madly about raving.

Verse 6
********

Finally dressed and flying outdoors
reached my hand where the keys
were always kept for the car doors
but came up empty, I said no more please.

Verse 7
********

Now I had to think almost out loud
who had used the car last night
everyone looked at me like a rain cloud
and now me I'm looking like a fright.

Verse 8
********

Finally on floor next to the door I spy
the keys grab them and run to the car
started up throw it in reverse I try
when one of kids yells you won't go far.

Verse 9
********

Confused at this statement I step on the gas
and through the garage door go with a bang
and looking around hearing the glass crash
I hear one last hub cap on the ground clang.

Verse 10
********

Remember the powers off and the garage door
is electric so it didn't open when I pushed
the button on the wall I was devastated to the core
it was at this point all my good resolve was crushed.

Verse 11
********

My neighbors all on their lawns the damage
did survey wondering which kid was driving today
laughing loudly at all the noise and carnage
boy this was a day someone was going to pay.

Verse 12
********

Then something strange occurred I wondered why
I heard the alarm go off and my honey asked me
to turn it off as it was Saturday and I wanted to cry
a most difficult day for me was a dream I'd never see.
