To withhold or refrain from
for twenty-four hours
if thou are able by health.

To cause your self to do without
for the needs of another
is intended for the fast offering.

Thus when one has need of prayer
your body is cleansed inside
deeper meditation you can travel within.

There are those who need to control
this desire for the fast in health
to do more harm than good is not asked.

But each time we fast in part or whole
think of another who a blessing
stand now in need or in our coming deeds.

Remember those who are young and restless
who need our example of the fast today
as in the pews at worship they scurry for food.

So this Sabbath day or one in the future plan
to have a fast of your own not open
for the good of another if you are able to so do.

Then let the Master's spirit to you thus touch
as the still small voice will whisper
well done my faithful servant, well done.
