Charlie Davidson's Vanderbilt Page

This is the old, temporary version of this page!

Please go to the new version on Vanderbilt's server: click here. Thank you

(early 2003)
Ok, so this is my webpage. There's nothing here yet. Maybe by the time I graduate I'll come up with something cool to put here, but I imagine I'll probably just stick to... not anything cool. Anyway, if you're interested in early 16th century Parisian Chansons, you should click here for a little ditty for my MUSL 142(?) class about Sandrin. Otherwise, my IM and Yahoo e-mail are both FretlessC. Feel free to barrage me with the questions to all those ugly answers. Goodnight.

I'd forgotten I had this webspace. Anyway, I'm using the free time at work when I'm not doing anything useful (AKA all the time) to append to this page. I think I'll start with some links to useful stuff... basically my favorites list in html format. enjoy. I'm also going to add an extremely brief bio for anyone who somehow landed here without knowing me.
update: 7/27/2004
No more updates for a while unless I get some pictures or something. Writing the tables and thinking of useful links hurts my head. Besides, no one will ever use this page but me. la la la. Noone will ever read this. Except maybe my boss when she finally realizes I'm retro-productive. Does that mean anything... "retroproductive"? It sounds too cool for me to be writing it. Ok, I'm done. g'day.

What a bad day. I listened to the NAWM recording of Norma for almost five minutes, reflecting hopelessly on the fact that I will have to study the opera from this recording. With frazzled mind, I proceeded to accidentally overwrite this page with my Aix pictures page. I looked everywhere for some backup or cache, but no, I'm too stupid to have done that. I can't believe I erased all that. There's supposed to be a computer section and a travel section and a few more bands, but I'll have to go back and redo those some time when I'm not ready to smash my computer to bits. or smash it to bytes. ha. that's an awful joke. i should work for a dairy, writing jokes for the back of milk cartons. I'm delirious and verbose. bye.

Bullets flying everywhere! Text bullets. I just learned how to use lists. I'm really bad at it, so I apologize if the page looks funny, but it'll get better with time. I have the strange urge to change these updates to a list. Resist! Anyway, the official date for switching to the Vanderbilt website is on or before Aug. 30, 2004. If you're at the angelfire address, please switch to this page: here. No popups and probably a better server. Today's my last day of work, so I'll hopefully be doing something more interesting than writing HTML for the next few weeks. I hope this page is useful or at least looks like it could eventually be. bonne nuit!

    MUSIC

    Radio:

WABE FM90.1 Atlanta's NPR station (listen) (main)
    • Great Jazz Saturday evenings, NPR news in the morning and during the day, Prairie Home Companion during the weekend and great shows during the week. However, "Bach's Lunch" during the afternoon weekdays is AWFUL. and John Linley talks too much.
WRAS FM88.5 GSU Radio (best in Atlanta) (main)
    • See website for schedule, lots of great indie stuff. they have a movie soundtrack show that always plays exceptionally good music.
WREK FM91.1 GA Tech Radio (my 2nd favorite) (main) (listen)
    • Great source for world music (see schedule). Also, WREKage Friday night is the only death-metal show I know of in Atlanta. If you're into that kind of thing.... which I'm not of course...
    BlueNote Records Radio
    • Free radio. go to "All Classics" preset - best jazz I've heard in a long time. no ads. Lets you rate artists and songs and tailors the playlist to you. My favorite online station.
    LaunchCast Radio
    • Free with a Yahoo ID, though the "Plus" is $3 a month (not worth it). choose your own bands and genres etc, it tailors the playlist to you. Despite putting Wilco in "country" and automatically playing Creed if you've chosen System of a Down, this is a great station and has exposed me to a lot of good music.
    Radio@Netscape
    • Another free online radio client, some of the jazz stations on here are excellent. Only problem is it cuts out on non-members after a few hours. That aside, it's my favorite thing to listen to at work.

Radiohead for the Piano not bad.
