One was blessed with the voice of an angel, and the other was gifted with the power to create spellbinding music...
I think everyone here knows the Savage Garden story--Daniel places an ad in the paper, Darren shows up and gives it his best shot...unfortunately, we all know his voice split and you know, all that stuff that brings a singer nightmares...Still, Darren couldn't avoid destiny...the two instantly clicked and formed the band that brings joy, passion, and love into the hearts of many around the world--they have created for us, with their personalities and traits, with their music and words, a Savage Garden. Most of us all know by now that the name 'Savage Garden' was inspired by Anne Rice's Vampire novels, mainly that of the Vampire Lestat. Before, the two were contemplating on whether or not they should use names like Dante's Inferno, Bliss, Crush and a few other ones--unfortunately for them, all the names were taken so the guys decided to use Savage Garden...two opposite things which the boys say describe their differences.As of now, Savage Garden's debut album has sold about 8 million copies around the world ( give or take a few million ) and about 800,000 alone in Australia. The band's incredible success is making it seem as though they are just another teeny bopper band...have you noticed how lovely the Spice Girls success has downfalled over the year? But Savage Garden is out to prove to the world that it is not just another band that will come and go, with a few hits along the way...for them, success is a continous thing, as Darren has stated so frequently. But the guys don't have to prove anything to us...we already know that Savage Garden is the best band around, that all their songs are hits, that the members aren't all that bad looking ( OoohHhh ), that they're more than just another annoying teeny bopper band, and that yes, they will be here in years to come. They will be here to entertain and delight us at the millenium, because who knows what kind of funky techno stuff there will be to drive us mad.
