Literature of the Victorian Era: A Beginner's Guide

This is a guide to Victorian Era Literature, hopefully you will better understand literature of the Victorian Era after reading this page. The Victorian era is named after Queen Victoria. Queen Victoria ruled Britain from 1837-1901. She was the longest reigning monarch in British history. The Victorian Era includes all 64 years that Queen Victoria was ruling. All the literature wrote in that time frame is known as Victorian Literature.

There were many great writers who wrote many classic novels during this era but the most well-known is Charles Dickens. Some other writers of the Victorian Era worth noting are Beatrix Potter(a great children's writer), Lewis Carroll(author of Alice in Wonderland), and Robert Louis Stephenson(author of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde.
