Capricorn part 8

So they went to the ship. Suzee was about to set it for self destruct when Koby came running. There were two henchmen running behind her.

“Go, go!”

Rosie ran away from the ship. Suzee was still there.

“Get on the ship!” Goddard said. “Harlan, go! Suzee, come on!”

“She needs to be here!” Suzee called back. “She won’t take off without me!”

“Suit yourself!” Harlan said, regretting it as soon as he said it. He didn’t want to leave Suzee or Catalina behind. But Suzee wouldn’t listen.

“Go, go!” Jewel cried. “We gotta get out here, Suzee!”

“No!” Suzee cried. “I’m almost done.”

Jewel looked at Goddard.

“Leave her here,” he said in a stern voice.

“Yes, sir.”

So they ran back to the Christa, and Harlan took his place at helm. Everyone else took their places. Jewel hung around the helm.

“We have to find a way to get you to bond with the ship,” Goddard told her.

Jewel was confused. “You mean this ship is alive?”

“Alive and well and waiting to get off this planet!” Davenport yelled.

“Sorry,” Jewel said.

“We’re going! We’re going!” Harlan called.

“Suzee’s still here!” Rosie called.

“Forget Suzee!” Jewel cried. “Koby’s out to get you, and if she catches you, you die. Simple, right?”

So Harlan got the Christa back into space, feeling extremely bad about Suzee, but also knowing there was nothing he could do about it.

A few moments later the excitement was over. The Christa was in space again, Suzee was still on the planet, and Koby couldn’t see anyone now.

“I’m really sorry about all of this, and I feel so bad,” Jewel said. “It’s all my fault.”

“Now, now,” Davenport said. “It’ll be all right.”

“Suzee’s still on the planet,” Jewel said.

“It’s my fault,” Goddard spoke up. “I’m the one who said to leave her there.”

“At least she’s safe,” Jewel said. “And after she blows that ship up, both she and Catalina will be safe in Suzee’s dimension. Suzee doesn’t have to pull her out.”

“But how will we get Catalina back if both of them are in that dimension?” Davenport asked.

“I don’t know, Theresa. I really don’t know.”

“You guys, I have something to tell you, its about Theresa,” Jewel said. “And I have been trying to tell you all along.”

“What is it?” Goddard asked.

“Yes, what is it?” Davenport said.

“Well…about Theresa’s pregnancy....”
