"A PRAYER FOR A NATION"

PLEASE HEAVEN! GUIDE THIS NATION TO YOUR WAY. KEEP US ON THE PATH TO THEE. LET US NOT STRAY. KEEP US CLOSE TO YOU. PROTECT OUR NATION NIGHT AND DAY. THROUGH THE DARK AND LIGHT OF STRUGGLES. THROUGH THE GOOD AND BAD OF TROUBLES. BLESS THIS NATION I IMPLORE. I PRAY IT IS FOREVERMORE. TO THE PEOPLE OF AMERICA FOR A NATION CRIES LET LOVE BE THE CLOTH THAT WILL HELP THE TEARS DRY A Poeatreeman Edgar Allan Prieto 9/29/2001

THE BEST OF HOPE

If you can Take the Worst and make it Best You'll Feel that Life is Worth the Rest. If you can Take the Worst and make it Small You'll make yourself that much Tall. If you can Take the Worst and Look at what it is You'll be much Wiser for it All. If you can Take the Worst and Deal with its Quirks You'll see the Other Side and what can be Worse? If you can Take the Worst and Overcome its Aims You'll Feel the Lesser of its Pains. If you can Take the Worst and Look at the Best You'll have Shared your Tragedies with Some Hope. If you can Take the Worst and Keep your Heart You'll have Touched the Earth with your Tears. If you can Take the Worst and Walk with a Smile You'll have Said that Life was Well Worth While.

TO AMERICA

TO ALL THE SOULS GOD HAS CALLED HEAVEN NOW HOLDS THEM ALL TO THE STUDENTS OF VIRGINIA TECH (THE HOKIES ) GOD IS WAITING ; FOR YOUR CALL IT TAKES LOVE ; TO REACH HIM AFTER ALL SORROW DOES NOT END WITH A PRAYER IT BEGINS HEALING WHEN FAITH IS THERE. Edgar Allan Prieto April 18, 2007 A POET’S NOTE TO THE HOKIES Satan had its Carnage God will have His Day Sorrow is not Easy Hate is not the Way Love will not be Easy When Hate is in the Way Why Cannot be answered So Faith must be your Way’ A Poeatreeman Edgar Allan Prieto 4/18/2007 A Poeatreeman It's always Best to Look up even when you're Down The Best and Worst is What you do First Let it be The Best That Speaks to you For Hatred Will Rob The Best of you. Edgar Allan Prieto Feb 20,1980

A LADDER TO HEAVEN

The FIREMEN Were Climbing The Stairs To Hell. Little Did They Know It Was Their Ladder To Heaven. They Went Through Hell To Help Us All. They Showed Courage in The Face of it All. The POLICEMEN, The FIREMEN Who Sacrificed Their Lives. The EMS Who Made Their Calls. They Gave Their Best To Save Them All. Now We Are Left With Tears To Fall. How Do We Say Good-bye When The Heart Cries Out With Sorrow? We Pray To God And Ask Him To Help The Hour. A TRIBUTE TO OUR PUBLIC SERVANTS WE MUST HONOR THEM EACH AND EVERY DAY NOT JUST WHEN DISASTER STRIKES THE HOUR TO THE PEOPLE OF NEW YORK WHO HAVE SUFFERED ONE OF THE GREATEST HOUR. TRIBUTE’S TO FIREMEN, WHO HAVE HONORED US ALL THEY STAND THEIR GROUND, IN SPITE OF THE COST. To the People of Charleston, S..C. To The Firemen Lost who suffered all cost I pray Heaven is the last place you’ve climbed A Poeatreeman May God Be The Fireman Who Rescues Me. I Pray He is on Call Every Hour. I Need Him For Life To Keep The Fires From Consuming My Soul. I Need Not Burn The Roads. I May Catch Fire Before I Am Old Who Then Will Receive My Soul? A Poet's Note A STEP TO WHAT? The Latter is only as Good As the next Step you take. It is only the Slip That will Take you Down. So Watch! You do not get Caught In the Rung. For you will Fall When you Hang yourself up. It is Better! When Life is Right Side up. You will not have to turn around To see what side is up. Edgar Allan Prieto 9/16/2001

THE SPIRIT OF FREEDOM

I Once Stood Proud On The Steps Of Freedom. While The Flag Was Being Raised. I Heard The Anthem Being Played. As I Stood Upon The Steps. I Hoped All Country's Would Be Free. The Goal I Want Is Not For Me. But All Who Long To Be Free. The Banner I Hold Is Earth's Own Soul. For We Are One Who Breathe Free. Let The World Breathe With Me. Then We Can All Breathe Free. Dedicated To Freedom And All Who Seek, The Golden Wings To Soar Through Heaven Upon The Wind. Let No Shackles Be Imposed. Then My Bonds, Will Be Not Broken I Can Set Freedom High. Where It Will Take To The Sky. Heaven! Is Open For The Ride. I Can Fly Free And High. Bound By Heaven's Openness. Feeling Free For My Spirit's High. Soaring Upwards Through The Stars. Bound By Heaven's Open Sky. A Poeatreeman It Is Not The Steps To Bronze Or The Steps To Silver. Not Even Gold. It Is The Steps To The Soul That Cries For Freedom. Let My Spirit Not Be Chained. I Will Fly Upon The Clouds Free As God Would Have Me Now. Edgar Allan Prieto 9/24/2000
A TRIBUTE TO THOSE WHO SERVED AND THOSE NOT SEEN TO THE FUTURE; WHO WOULD KEEP FREEDOM FREE

THE LIGHT OF FREEDOM

Freedom's Price, They Gave Their Lives. The Cost was Paid by Many Souls. Those Who Died to Set us Free. The Lost; To Forget Their Dying Deeds. Keep it Burning in your Heart. The Light of Freedom Will Shine Throughout. Extinguished Only; When you Forget your Rights. Remember the Fallen, They Paid with Their Life. Remember Their Spirit They Fought for your Rights. Look at the Flag; Tell me I am not Right. It's Stained with the Spirits Who Colored its Life. It Waves in the Wind When Freedom is in Sight. Dedicated To The Fallen Souls. Whose Lives now Serve Freedom's Role. Recall To Remember Freedom's Fight. I Pray we do not Forget our Rights. A Poeatreeman I am Bound by God To Pledge it All. I am Bound by my Country To Fight For it All. I am Bound by Truth To Serve no Lies. I am Bound by Conscience To Keep Freedom Strong. A Poet's Note The Light of Liberty Must Never Go Out. For Freedom will not be Seen. Edgar Allan Prieto 7/23/2001

A FLAG WAVE'S

It Is My Blood That Keeps It. It Is My Dream That Wishes For It. It Is My Hope That Freedom Is Not A Dream. It Is My Belief That God Is The Key. It Is My Heart That Holds Its Breath. It Is My Willingness To Do What Is Best. It Is My Right To Follow Truth. It Is My Country That I Must Protect. It Is Wrong That I Must Not Let Go. Even If My Country Is Not At Its Best. It Is Wrong Not To Answer Wrong. But Right To Help The Land. I Do Not Follow Course, But Rather Know The Path. Then I'll Know The Course. That Leads My Country Off To War. A Country That Is Not Bound By God. Is Bound To Find No Course Is left? A Poeatreeman Let I Walk Beside, I'll Never Know The Course. Unless I Walk Upon The Path. That Land My Country Takes. One Path Can Take You To Many Places. One Course Leads To Endless Wars. Unless I Know What Path Is Right. What Course Is Left? ? Dedicated To My Country. Edgar Allan Prieto 11/22/91

THE FLAG

The Flag is not a Cloth of Thread. But Hearts That is Twined with Care. The RED The Blood That Spilled. Through years of War. That Stained The Cloth From Hearts That Lost. The WHITE From Purity. Through Souls That Gave Their Lives and Dreams. Still Kept Heart Through all The War. The BLUE The Hope of Peace to Come. The Silence of the Guns. When Hearts will not Fall. All Can Raise Their Hand. To Other Lands and Greet a Friend. The STARS I see when I Hope to be Free. To Look Across and See all Hearts. Wave The Banner Throughout The Land. Mending the Bridge That Has Torn us Apart. A Poeatreeman If my Country has Heart, then I'll know it's mine. Edgar Allan Prieto 6/17/90

IT'S FREEDOM

It Speaks to all of Us, not just me. It's not the words I Hear It's the ones, not Spoken. I write one line, what have I said? Freedom is to be Spoken. What Line has Changed, that Frees my Hand ? The Words I Wrote, Before I Died. I am Free to Think, and Love my God. I am Here to See it not Fall Away My Country Speaks to me. Freedom is in The Air And so is Change to Shackle me. Be Careful not to Make it so It Takes one Loss When Freedom Goes. Your Will to Choose and Let it Go. A Poeatreeman If my Heart is Free my Spirit Flies. No will to Hold me to The Sky. Heaven Stands not in my Way. I am Free to go Where I may. Dedicated to My Country Edgar Allan Prieto 4/20/92

GOD AND COUNTRY

I Can Better Serve My Country When I Can Serve My God First. I Can See My Country's Wrongs When God is There With Me. I Can Help My Country Right When God is There To Show Me Wrong. I Can Take My Country's Path When it Leads The Way of God. I Can Love My Country Dearly When God is not Just Words we Write. In God we Trust I Hope it is Truly One Nation Under God. For When all is Done What is left? The Faith you Have in God. When all is Remembered Will My Country Have Heart? I Served My God and Kept Heart too. I Gave My Country The Best I Could. I Shared Both with Heart and Love. I Served My God and Country too. I am a Better Countryman. When My Country Serve's Him too. A THOUGHT! There is one Course, that will take me through The Choices I made, and the ones I did not do Written For and Dedicated To My Country A Poeatreeman When I am faced with doubts Let God guide my hand. When my Country chooses Let God be The Path. When my Country has doubts. There is God who is always waiting Ask Him for His views. Let God speak to you You will see what to do. Edgar Allan Prieto 6/6/94

MY COUNTRY

I See My Country Clearly When I Know what it is Doing. I See the Wrong For Then I Can Guide it Right. I am not the Path But try to Find its Course. Then I'll Know Who's Leading me to Fight. For What I Must Answer Who is Right? What Values Does My Country Bring That Find a Place in me? God and Right I'll Take Their Side. My Country Must be on its Side. For I Follow not My Country Goal. Rights of People to be Told. Of the Path My Country Takes me Through. For Then I'll Know just Where to go. Then I'll Know just What to do I Hope The Path is God and True. A Poeatreeman If My Country has Heart, I'll know it's mine. Edgar Allan Prieto 12/19/87

A GOVERNMENTAL POLICY

A Governmental Policy Has To Be Defended By Those Who Fought a War and Against all Truth. For The First Barrel To Shoot is Deception. Truth is not Dead only Wounded. But We That Must Face The Guns Are Left with a Battle We Sometimes Don't Want. To Fight For Truth or Our Country? A War That Rages in Each Our Hearts. To Commit to all We Know it True. To Stand Up When Our Country is Calling. What Voice Do I Hear and Who is Calling? The Drums of War or Truth Being Silenced Out? I Must Know Wrong To Have The Answers. For Truth Cannot Be a Casualty For Long. Government; Will Have To Face it All. It is Our Blood That Runs in Red. It is Our Time To Make it Right. It is Our Country That We Must Not Let Die. It is Our Hearts That Can Keep it Alive. A THOUGHT! There are no Credits in War Only a Sad Commentator For Peace. Fear is not Ignorance! Ignorance is War For Knowledge is The Understanding. Your Enemy is War. Strike at it with Wisdom, and Peace will be Yours. A Poeatreeman It is Truth That Will Let Us See it All. It is God That Can Protect Us All. Dedicated To All That Held Up Truth. For You Have Fallen, But Not Forgotten. One Day All Will Be Unveiled. The Cloak of Secrecy Covers Us All. For Truth Spoke The Words, He Heard What He Had Said My Country Must Be Served, Truth Will Be My Guide. Honor is My Country, if Truth is Not to Hide. Loyalty is My Country, if Right is on its Side. Duty is My Country, if I Can Walk With God. Honor, Duty, Country, is Better Served With God. Loyalty is Better Given When Truth is at its Side. Edgar Allan Prieto 10/16/92

WE ARE THE FLAG

The Flag Cannot Wave, Unless We are its Banner. For it is Our Hearts That Hold The Cause. Our Blood Keeps it Flying. Our Hope it Will Not Fall. Our Freedom Will Set it Free. Our Death The Sacrifice of All. We Are The Flag. Each One Whose Heart is in it. Fights To Keep it Flying High. It is More Than a Cloth. Yet Not More Than Us, For We Are The Cloth. Dedicated To Us All For Freedom is The Banner It Must Be Waved For All. A THOUGHT! The Flag! Must Not Have More Rights Than We Do. For Freedom, Will Be Our Loss. Pass No Amendment To Change. Let Freedom Reign. Keep It In Sight, Check It Every Night. To See It's With You. Don't Wish For It To Come. It Must Be Won Each Day. How Far Can I Walk Today? Freedom Has Many Steps I Need One Free One, To See The Way. A Poeatreeman The Flag May be Torn and Burned. Yet it is Our Heart, That Keeps it High. It will not be Torn, Unless You Tear it From You. No One Can Crush it, For it's Within You. The Spirit Flies When, Freedom's High. You Raised it, When you Gave your Life. A Banner You Waved, For Your Country's Rights. Edgar Allan Prieto 4/28/2000

THE RIGHT PATH

I Believe in The Course of God And Hope My Country. Will Follow Through. For The Steps are Hard to Walk When I Have to Walk Between. My Soul is Here My Feet are too. I am Trying to Walk Together. How Do I Serve Two Houses When They are Different Roads? One Nation! I Hope Will Come Together. One Nation Under God. Will Keep Us Whole. A Poeatreeman The Hardest Path Has No Direction. The Wrong One Has Many Left's. The Right One, Only One. Which One Will I Follow. When All is Said and Done? The Path of Choice!, Will Be The One. Edgar Allan Prieto 4/30/2000
TRIBUTE TO THE MEN AND WOMEN WHO SERVED IN VIETNAM

A WOUNDED SOUL

War, has Wounded my Heart Yet, I kept my Soul Love, has healed me and I am whole Not in body, but in Soul For I have my wheels now To get where I can I kept my legs Never to walk again. Dedicated To All Who Lost Their Child Because Of War A Poeatreeman The Casualties of Love Are The Hearts That Died The Men and Women Who Lost Their Child The Wounds Inflicted Because of War The Pain Felt Forevermore Remembering The Lost They Are Wounded More Edgar Allan Prieto 11/19/2000

WHERE DOES GOD STAND?

I Hope In This Land. He Was Pushed Out Of School Where Is He Now?; Under House Rules. Waiting For The Amendment To Pass On Through. Waiting For The Government To Decide What To Do. Hoping He Has A Prayer To Finally Get Through. How Many Votes Will I Have To Win Before You Accept Me For Who I Am? It Only Takes One's Heart To See Who I Am. I Ask Not For Your Votes But Only A Prayer. Say It In Silence I Will Still Hear. I Came To This Nation To Let You Know I Am Here. It Is Up To All Of You If I Am To Be Near. To The Return Of Prayer In School A Moment Of Silence Need Not Be Heard I Will Take My Heart To Speak To Him A Poeatreeman Let The Symbol Be The Heart. God Will Be Displayed. For It Is In Each Of Us Prayer Will Find Its Way. For If God Is There I Can Take A Right Step. If He Is Out What Is Left? I Pray The Right Step Will Not Be Far Away. I Kept Him In Life Yet He Is Not In School Today. Edgar Allan Prieto 12/2/2000

WHAT HAPPENS AFTER TWO?

Lord You Gave Me Two Cheeks To Turn After That What Do I Do? You Told Me If They Spite Me To Turn The Other Too What Happens After Two? Can I Turn Theirs Or Would That Make It Three? I Am Human I Only Came With Two I Guess It's My Turn To Turn Theirs I'll Only Do It Twice. Forgive Me If I Am Wrong Lord I Know I Have Two. It's How You Made Me. One Side Wants To Go Right The Other Side Wants To Go Left. I Guess You Better Keep Me Straight Ahead.

TO AMERICA

AS HARD AS IT IS TO DO REMEMBER WHAT WE SOW IT WILL COME BACK TO SEED HARD TO HARVEST SORROW WHEN TEARS ARE SHED EACH DAY A THOUGHT! It's Hard To Face An Angry Face. Use Your Wisdom To Get On Through. Hard Words Will Never Do. Turning Your Cheek Is One Way Through It. Remember Lord! You Only Gave Me Two. A Poeatreeman Forgive Those Who Spite You. Love Those Who Curse You. Befriend Those Who Would Hurt You. Pray For Those Who Are Lost. A POET'S NOTE Let The Heart Be The Mountain. Let The Words Be Yours. Let The Sound Be a Roar. Let The Heart Be Yours. Let The Soul Find Peace. Let Life Be Filled With Joy. Edgar Allan Prieto 3/12/96
Tribute To The Men And Women Who Served In Desert Storm

HUMANITY WON

It's Good and Well The Troops Came Home With Far Less Casualties Than Anyone Assumed. If One Thing They Learned Was The Humanity They Showed. A War That Brought Out The Best of Them. Let's Savor The Moment not Because We Won But Our Troops had Heart and Humanity Won. It is not Always Best To use The Gun But with Heart at The End, There is Hope To be Found. Let's not Forget The Ones That Died For They have Shown To us What War will Do. The Dreams That Died The Hopes That Were Lost The Men Whose Hearts Were Broken Too. The Pain That Fell on Families Too. The Casualties of All are The Ones Who Cared The Ones Who Left us With a Prayer. Let's ask God to Help us Through Let's Remember The War, not With Sweetness but Pain. Let's Remember Those Who Gave us Hope. Let's Remember, The Hearts That are Gone. Let's Remember, The Battle for Some, is not The War. The Day They Learned, Loved Ones Were Gone. Remember The Hour, For it's not Long To Live. Remember The War, and See How Short it is. Poeatreeman If You Make War Too Sweet. You Will Have Bitter Fruits Later. Dedicated to Peace Edgar Allan Prieto 3/8/91
TRIBUTE TO THE MEN AND WOMEN WHO SERVED IN VIETNAM

AN UNWANTED WAR

The Tragedies of Vietnam were not the War. The Wounds Inflicted by Our own People. For They Cut Deep Into Our Hearts Left us with Our Scars To Bear. No Flags To Wave but Fist in Hand. No Greetings, but Ugly Tones. No Embrace, only Empty Arms. No Cheers, but Cries of Tears. No Remembrances, only Pain Of a War That We Once Fought. Without Our Peoples Hearts. May it Never Be So, If We Have To Fight a War That We Never Go! Without Our People's Will And With The Will To Know, That Freedom is Our Friend. For Failure is Our Enemy, If We Lose The Will To Win. A Poeatreeman The Greatest Sin is not the War. But The Lack of Will To Win it. For all is Lost if We Lose Sight. of The Shores We Stand On. May One Day Be Our's. Edgar Allan Prieto May 1,1985
TRIBUTE TO THE MEN AND WOMEN WHO SERVED IN VIETNAM

UNWANTED SOLDIERS

To The Men of Vietnam, For Their Valiant Efforts No Matter what Their Cause. You Served in a Place Where no One Won Felt The Pain of Untold Sums. You Left Your Home and Carried Through All The Fears That Came With You. To a Land You Did not Know Or Reasons Why it Came To Be. A Price You Paid For Liberty To Do Your Best and Hope To Be. That all You Have Done is not in Vain. A Life or a Friend That You Came To Know. One That Might Die For You Or Someone That You Lost. These Men of Nam Who Came To See. The Blood That Spilled, Was Tears of Pain. Sharper Than a Bullets Sting. For on The Front, They Were not Alone. They had a Front To See. Back Where The Flag Waves The Fight had Just Begun. No Bullets To Fire only Pain and Sorrow. For You Left us With an Empty Hope No Place To Go and Heal Our Wounds. For Deeper Were They When We Came Home. More Brutal Than The War We Left. It's all Too Well Who Criticize The Men Who Went This Way. For if We Fail To Take a Stand Where Will You Critics Be? Not all is Right When One Must Fight I am Hoping as We Learn. That When We Do, it is For The Right, Of us To Keep Our Home. A Poeatreeman Edgar Allan Prieto Aug 30 1984
DEDICATED TO THE MEN OF VIETNAM AND ALL WHO SERVED

THE MEN OF GRANITE

The Stone that Rises before them all Were Men of Flesh Before The Fall. A Tribute of The Ones of Stone Carved in Granite To Show The Cause. A Life That Once Felt These Hearts Now is Lost in Men of Stone. These Soldier's Who Fight no More But only Stand with an Unknown Cause. In Fields of Lifeless Still. To Speak Out of Why it Was. Once on a Battlefield! Where Men were Flesh. Are We To Be Flesh or Stone? These Men of Granite Will not Come Home. A Life, a Tribute of The Cause A Price They Paid To Be in Stone. Is it Fitting To The End? To Stand a Bliss and See The End? Can We Not Make Peace Our Friend? Carve a Monument To The End? Leave The Men with Flesh and Feet Hearts and Minds Not Torn Apart. These Souls Amidst Tombs of Stone. Standing in Fields of Granite and Stone Die Amidst The Baptism of Fire. Where Death is Hailed by Tributes of Fire. Friend and Foe Were Both To Go. As Bullets Ripped, Through Flesh and Soul Leaving Both Friend and Foe Shattered Dreams and Broken Hearts Fell as Each One's Life was Lost. Death Had Come To Quench its Thirst. The Tools of War Gave Him His Feast. Is This The Price That Spilled Their Blood? To See Them Turn From Flesh To Stone. For is Our Monument To Them or War? These Men of Granite Will Not Come Home. A Poeatreeman If I Could Be as Hard as Granite I Would Be Less Than Flesh and Bone. If I Could Assure You My Heart and Soul are One with Them. You'll Know I Was not Steel of Granite. If You Can See The Tears That Fall You'll Know There is a Soul in This. Edgar Allan Prieto May 11,1985 A Poeatreeman War, Has Wounded my Heart Yet, I Kept my Soul Love, Has Healed me and I am Whole Not in Body, but in Soul For I Have my Wheels Now To Get Where I Can I Kept my Legs Never To Walk Again.

ARMED FORCES DAY MAY 15

A SERVICE FOR LIFE GOD'S ARMY I Serve Hearts and Hate is What I Combat. The Casualties will be Sorrows. Care will Have To Aid me Through. Yet in The End Love will Come Through. Peace will Win. The Tears will Fall as Love Hurts Too. God is There To See me Through. Each Day I Pray Peace will Come. For Prayers are my only Ammunition. That Hate will not Win. Love is my Salvo I Fire to Win. I Keep Hate in Check That it will not Come in. A Poeatreeman LOVE is only OUT When HATE is WITHIN PRAY for CARE to RETURN LOVE will be WITHIN Edgar Allan Prieto 11/12/2001

MY THOUGHTS!

Truth Does Not Belong To The Government But To God Freedom Belongs To The People And is Not Governed by Government Patriotism is Not The Flag but The Heart For I am The Flag That Waves Patriotism A Poeatreeman Edgar Allan Prieto 7/3/89 President Ronald Reagan No Country Should Take a Life If it Has Peace as its Tool For When You Need To Sharpen The Blade Make Sure The Cut is Right A Poeatreeman Edgar Allan Prieto 9/1/84 FREEDOM IN OR OUT? I am Free Up To The Fence If I Go Over What Freedom Will I Lose? No More Than What was There If it's not Here, it is not There I Must Find it Within For My Spirit is as Free as The Wind If I Do not Close it Within. A Poeatreeman Edgar Allan Prieto 6/30/96 The Spirit of Freedom Cannot be Lost Unless You Chained Your Heart For Your First Freedom is Your Will to Choose Your Loss By Thinking it Will Always Be. A Poeatreeman Edgar Allan Prieto 7/22/97 The Land is Free To Give Itself It is We Who Lock it Out We Fence it in and Say it's Ours We Bordered it and Lock all Out Where is Freedom, in or Out? A Poeatreeman Edgar Allan Prieto 7/22/97 The Bounds of Freedom, are Limited by Your Will Choose Not Boundaries, To Close it in For How Far Can I Go, Before Freedom Ends? A Poeatreeman Edgar Allan Prieto 7/22/97 FREEDOM If Freedom is Locked Who will Hold The Key? If Freedom is Open No Key Will I Need. A Poeatreeman Edgar Allan Prieto 6/10/98 FREEDOM'S KEYS The Door To Freedom is Always Open. A Poeatreeman Edgar Allan Prieto 6/14/98 ENCRYPTION If You Give Government The Keys To Encryption. You Lock out Freedom For no Privacy is Free If Government Can Open any Door. The Key to Freedom Is a Choice We are Free To Make. Invading Our Privacy Our Freedom is No More. The Lock To a Door Is Best Opened By Freedom. For He or She Who Chooses To Keep it Private. Is the Key To Unlock it All. If Government Wants to Have an Open Door. Let it Not Close it By Trying To Open Ours. I Hope Freedom Will Never Be Extinct. For If the Door is Open. Let me Be Free To Step on In. For no Door Will Be Locked When Freedom is The Key. I Can Best Serve My Government When I am Free To Make a Choice. A Poeatreeman Edgar Allan Prieto 6/10/98 A WALK FOR FREEDOM One Ounce of Freedom Lost to Us All. Can Never Be Justified By a Longer Walk. For The Distances I Traveled Is Less Than Before. If I Let it Happen The Next I May Not Walk. A Poeatreeman Edgar Allan Prieto 2/7/99 WHO WILL HOLD THE KEY? I Would Like To Open The Door and Close it. If I Need To Lock it Let Me Choose My Own Way. Who Will Hold The Key To Freedom If I Give Mine Away? A Poeatreeman Edgar Allan Prieto 10/8/99 If We Protect The Flag. What Freedom Will be Lost? If We Serve Our Hearts. No Flag Needs Protection. If We Serve Our Country Our Flag is Protected. A Poeatreeman Edgar Allan Prieto 6/17/90 BOUNDARIES I Walked Until I Hit The Edge Of Freedom. I Was Up Against The Wall' Beyond! I Felt No Freedom At All. A Poeatreeman Edgar Allan Prieto 12/9/2000 REVENGE: is not Sweet it Pays in Sorrow. A Poeatreeman Edgar Allan Prieto 9/5/98 WAR Not All War is Wrong But When is it Right? A Poeatreeman Edgar Allan Prieto 6/5/85 WAR: is Death's Best Friend? A Poeatreeman Edgar Allan Prieto 6/7/85 HAPPY MEDIUM? Freedom Cannot be Balanced. Between Security and Liberties. For One will Tip The Scale. When it Strikes The Other. Security will Weigh in. Yet Freedom Outweighs all Other. A Poeatreeman Edgar Allan Prieto 9/23/2001 THE NATION'S GUARD Freedom Must Walk Our Shores. Liberty Must Walk in Hand. We Must Guard Our Shores. To Keep Them Always Here. Or Complacency, Will Wash Ashore. A Poeatreeman Edgar Allan Prieto 9/24/2001

SCHOOL PRAYER

America is Praying Now Why Can We not Do it Here? There are Too Many Religions Fighting To Hear Their Words If We are One Nation Under God Why Can We Not Say His Words? I Pray This Nation Will Truly Come Under God. For if We are not We Will Truly be Underfoot. America Will Surely Die. For if God Cannot Hear a Nation's Plea. Remember The Day, You Push Him Away. You Banned Him From The Schools. A Poeatreeman It Only Takes A Moment of Silence To Pray. Yet He Will Still Hear. Have you not Asked Him For a Prayer? Then Why not Return it Too. You May Hear an Answer Sooner Than you Know. When you Pray To God Do not Expect a Call. There is Only One Line For you To Get Through. The Right One, Will Make Connection. Who is Calling my Child, A Lamb Who is Lost? Please Lord!, Shepherd me To Heaven. Edgar Allan Prieto 9/23/2001

TERRORISM

TERRORISTS Wear Many Faces Why Do We Color Them One? Do Not Blame The Muslims For What a TERRORIST Has Done Call Them What They are. TERRORISTS Who Strike at Us ALL. No Matter What Our Race. I Cannot Tell you Who They are By Looking at Their Face. I Can Only Tell you. TERRORISTS Will Strike at Any Place. If I Knew What Colors Them I Would Know a TERRORIST'S FACE. So When you Look at your Fellow Man Remember it's your Face. Dedicated To Love, For Hatred Will Never Win A Poeatreeman It Does not Come by NATIONALITIES It Comes From Every Place. Hides ITS Own Face. For When you're Looking For a TERRORIST. Look For One Who Has your Face. They Come in Many Colors So you Will not Know The Race. Look For The Spider Who Has Many Webs. There you Will Find a TERRORIST Caught in its Web. Do not Strengthen The Web By Weaving Yourself in. For you Will Find you are Netted When HATRED Weaves you in. A Poet's Note The Many Faces of TERRORISTS Are Shadows Without a Face. I Cannot Tell you What They Look Like. Until HATRED Shows Their Face. Edgar Allan Prieto 9/30/2001

A NEW DIRECTION

My Country Makes a Crooked Line. I am Trying To Straighten it. And Get God Behind. A Poeatreeman Edgar Allan Prieto 11/27/2001

GOD'S HOUSE

You Cannot Place God Where you Want. Expect Him To Be There When you Want. We are Under His House. He is not Under Our House. Pray He Will Enter in. For Without I Pray it Will Be The End. A Poeatreeman Edgar Allan Prieto 10/11/2001
