I just heard the news today
Seems my life is gonna change
I close my eyes, begin to pray
Then tears of pain stream down my face
"What right do you have to take him away??
Just when I needed him most you took him from me
From the day I was born he's been there
I cant imagine life without him by my side
I'm not ready to try life without him"
The greatest man I ever knew was taken from me
Events of him began to replay through my mind
Early morning bike rides on weekends
Returning home to breakfast on the table of my favorite
When I was in pain and crying your shoulder was there
He taught me never to judge a book by its cover
Playing in the rain as a kid
You standing at the door laughing with a towel
Staying up all night talking, playing cards,
And watching movies of your choice
You was the only one who knew how to handle me
If I was upset about anything you never pressured me
You knew when I was ready to talk I would talk to you
Others would try to drag it out of me
Which only made me close up more
I remember calling almost daily just to talk
Still try to sometimes then it hits me
Your not there anymore
From day one you began spoiling me
You never forgot any of your grandkids
You were proud of each and every one of us
I hardly ever saw you lose your cool
But when you did look out buddy
You stood firm in what you beleived in
You taught me to be the same
Although your no longer here with us
You will never be forgotten
I miss you so much but now I know
I have an ANGEL to watch over me
I see you in my darkest hours still
Came close to car wrecks and saw your spirit
Standing or sitting nearby protecting me
I could always count on you
You were always there for me
Anytime on any given day.
Granddaddy rest in peace and I will see you soon
I love you a bushel and a peck
And a hug around the neck
(like you have always told me)

If I Had Only Known By Reba
(Jana Stanfield, Craig Morris)
If I had only known
It was the last walk in the rain
I'd keep you out for hours in the storm
I would hold your hand
Like a life line to my heart
Underneath the thunder we'd be warm
If I had only known
It was our last walk in the rain
If I had only known
I'd never hear your voice again
I'd memorize each thing you ever said
And on those lonely nights
I could think of them once more
Keep your words alive inside my head
If I had only known
I'd never hear your voice again
You were the treasure in my hand
You were the one who always stood beside me
So unaware I foolishly believed
That you would always be there
But then there came a day
And I turned my head and you slipped away
If I had only known
It was my last night by your side
I'd pray a miracle would stop the dawn
And when you'd smile at me
I would look into your eyes
And make sure you know my love
For you goes on and on
If I had only known
If I had only known
The love I would've shown
If I had only known
