According to The Atlanta Historical Society, the house at 1005 Greenwood Avenue has a long and colorful history. Dating back to pre-Civil War times, the house originally functioned as a brothel on the outskirts of Atlanta, Georgia. The city was destroyed by flames during Sherman's Atlanta Campaign in The War of Northern Aggression. It is reported that Yankee soldiers had their way with the Greenwood Ladies the night before burning down the city of Atlanta on October 5, 1864.

The house was eventually restored, but the spirit of those Atlanta brothel workers lives on to this day at the residence. Their presence can still be enjoyed as they enter the ready bodies of those who visit to the house.
