[Latin American Student Association]

[Biographical Information]

The new LASA at Georgia State University started on September 1998. There have been previous attempts to create LASA groups, but all of them failed and the groups dissolved. Our goal is to introduce the Latin American culture into the community of GSU. We try to work jointly with many other associations and organizations within and outside school. Other goals include: promoting networking, education, comunity service, and leadership for the members and the comunity.

LASA accepts anyone as member. One does NOT have to be Latin-American to join. We encourage people of all cultural background, race, age, sex to join us and have a good time at planning, preparing, and enjoing the events. LASA resides within an "umbrella" called International Student Advisory Council (ISAC), an extension of the Office of International Student Programs and Services (http://oisp.gsu.edu), from whom we receive most funding. This Council promotes the 21+ international associations at GSU.
