Memories. . .

The Beginning

As you may have read, my parents are originally from the South. My mom, more specifically, grew up in Ocala, Florida, a town located about an hour away from what would later become Walt Disney World in Orlando. While we've lived overseas for a large part of my life, my parents and I come back to Ocala, about once a year or so, to visit my grandmother. At some point during each trip, we would invariably pack up the car and take a trip to see Mickey. My parents had watched Walt Disney World being built, and had been visiting since 1971, it's first year of operation. My own visits began in 1979, yet this was still before I was even a year old.

We've always enjoyed Disney, and from a young age, I wanted to work at Walt Disney World. Being so young, I had no idea what I wanted to do at Disney, but it looked like so much fun to work there, it didn't really matter.

When we moved to Georgia, our home only 6 hours away from Orlando, our visits to WDW became much more frequent. On one of our visits, my mother signed me up for the "Keys to the Kingdom" Tour at the Magic Kingdom. In the few short hours of the tour, I was amazed at how much thought went into every window, every brick, every shade of paint at the Magic Kingdom park. When the tour was over, I felt, more strongly than ever, that I wanted to become a Cast Member at Walt Disney World.
