Todd und Katie in Osterreich!
Summer 2004: Todd enrolled in a study-abroad program in Austria and took a law class from United States Supreme Court Justice Sandra Day O'Connor. Before the program started, we traveled by train through Switzerland, Italy, Austria, Hungary and Lichtenstein.
We stayed in Innsbruck, Austria for three weeks
of our trip. Katie spent the whole
time time trying to find books in English by going
into bookstores and asking, "Haben sie
Bucher auf English?" We ate lots of
treats again. ("Tzwei Manderolle bitte!") Innsbruck
was our base while we were in Europe, and we
took weekend trips around Europe on the
weekends.
Italy was Katie's favorite part of the trip. We
went to Venice, Florence, Sienna and Verona,
where Romeo and Juliet's house is
located. Italy was very romantic and the
people were very nice and the food was
reasonably priced and yummy!
We took a 14 hour flight with heavy turbulence to
Zurich Switzerland and stayed in the Talking
Heads Room at the Zic-Zac Rock Hotel.
We ate lots of delicious pastries and
took a boat cruise on Lake Zurich.
In Vienna, we rode the subway around the city and
saw lots of interesting street performers
and visited some great museums. We
saw Gustav Klimt's "The Kiss" and walked
around the city's old town pedestrian zones.
Todd insisted on walking very far to see the
famous Danube river, but it was apparently not
one of the city's great attractions as it
was mostly an industrial zone covered with
barges and factories. Katie was missing
American pop culture, so we saw Spiderman 2 in
a theatre with subtitles.
It was stormy in Salzburg!
