Note: -Must login as an Administrator or an User with equivalent rights

-Windows 2000 MUST have Service Pack 3 or above installed

  1. 1. Go to ?/FONT>Control Panel?click on ?/FONT>Regional Options?
  2. 2. On "Language settings for the system". Check on "Traditional Chinese". If the box is not checked. You also can check both "Simplified Chinese" and "Traditional Chinese".
  3. 3. Click on "Apply" button. To complete the installation of language groups, you must insert the Windows 2000 CD-ROM. You don’t need to reboot the system before setup the “Set Default?
  4. 4. On the ?/FONT>General?tab; click on the "Set Default" button. Click on “Set default?and scroll up to ?/FONT>Chinese (Taiwan)? then click ?/FONT>OK?

Note: This program designed for other languages may not display text correctly.

  1. 5. Click ?/FONT>OK?on the ?/FONT>General?tab.

Follow the on-screen instructions.

You will be prompted to reboot the system. Click “Yes?to take effect the settings.

  1. 1. Go to ?/FONT>Start?button; click on ?/FONT>Control Panel? (Switch to Category View, if you didn’t see the “Date, Time, Language and Regional Options?Icon)
  2. 2. Double click the ?/FONT>Date, Time, Language and Regional Options?icon to open the ?/FONT>Regional and Language Options? (Skip this step if you are running Server 2003)
  1. 3. Select the ?/FONT>Languages?tap to open the “Languages?options.
  2. 4. Under “Supplemental language support?section, Check on “Install files for East Asian languages? And click on “Apply? You might be asked to insert the Windows XP CD-ROM for the files needed.

Note: “Install files for complex script and right-to-left languages (including Thai)?is for Arabic, Armenian, Georgian, Hebrew, the Indic languages, Thai, and Vietnamese.

  1. 5. Go to “Advanced?tap, and select the “Language for non-Unicode programs?and scroll-up to “Chinese (Taiwan)? then click “Apply and click “OK?

Microsoft Office IME 2003 Supported Operating Systems:

TabletPC, Windows 2000 Service Pack 3, Windows Server 2003, Windows XP with Service Pack 3 or above.

Download Files: TINTSETP.MSI: ·sª`­µ¿é¤Jªk Microsoft New Phonetic IME CINTSETP.MSI: ·s­Ü¾e¿é¤JªkMicrosoft New ChangJie IME SINTSETP.MSI: ·s¤â¼g¿é¤JªkMicrosoft IMEPad

1. Move the mouse to “Files in this Download?as shown below. Select “TINTSETUP.MSI? click “Open?to run Microsoft New Phonetic IME installation.

2. After finishing installation, you will see a pop up as shown below. Click ?/FONT>¸P©w?to finish.

3. You should now see a language indicator in the System Tray (located at bottom right hand corner of the desktop by default)

4. Click on ?/FONT>Show the Language bar? it will move to the top of your screen, then click ?/FONT>En?and select ?/FONT>CH? Or you can switch between different input methods by pressing the left Alt + Shift keys or the right Alt + Shift keys. The language bar will change as shown below:

  1. 5. Click on “Tools? and then select “Properties? You will see the choices as left picture. Select “Keyboard mapping? if you want to change your keyboard format.

6. Click on “Tools?and then click on “Soft keyboard? every time you start to type Chinese Words. (Please note that the change of input might not work until an appropriate application is opened. You may use “Hard Keyboard?as your input.)

  1. ¥î¡B ·s­Ü¾e¿é¤Jªk Microsoft New ChangJie IME (CINTSETP.MSI)

You do not need to install this program, unless you want to use it.

1. Go to the Microsoft IME 2003 Download website again, Click on “CINTSETUP.MSI? Click “Open?to download and run the installation. After installation, click on “En?and select ?/FONT>­Ü?

2. Now you will see the “En?change to “CH?as the picture on the left.

3. Click on “Tools? select “Properties? you can do the Setting you like. But prefer set as defaults.

This program needs to be installed after Microsoft New Phonetic IME or Microsoft New ChangJie IME OR both programs (New Phonetic IME & New ChangJie IME)

Here are the choices:

Click on is to write.

Click on ?/FONT>¹º?is Strokes

Click on ?/FONT>³¡?is Radical

Click on ?/FONT>²Å?is Character List

Click “Clear?button to clear the handwriting frame to re-write a character, and then write your word. If you see the word you want at the recognize box, use your mouse to point to the word you want. You will see the Phonetic Characters (Bopomofo). Click the character you want in the box to send the character to the current text editor.

If you select Microsoft New ChangJie as your input. When the mouse point to the word you write, it will show the ChangJie Characters.

Use Mouse Right click and select ?/FONT>Properties?to look up character detail information such as reading, radial, stroke, and internal codes.
