Tri to find a cure ...

Training for my first triathlon is going quite well! I have definitely taken on some new challenges through this process. The hardest has been finding time to fit in all of the training. The early morning swimming is difficult some mornings. Sometimes I don't even make it to the pool, but on those days I do, it really feels good. The cycling has been good for my running, I think. I feel like I'm still getting a significant cardio workout, but still saving my feet from the pounding that running has done over the years.

I have almost made my fundraising goal for this event. If you haven't made a donation, yet, please consider doing so. I truly believe that within my lifetime MAJOR advances are going to be made to either eradicate cancer or develop excellent care-management treatment.

Some of you are now scratching your heads wondering why I'm doing this again. Since 2003 when I first became involved with TNT, I have seen the work The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society is doing to fund valuable research and patient services. In fact, at least 75% of all dollars raised through TNT goes directly toward the mission of LLS - funding research and helping patients and families. The heartache of the families and the pain that people with cancer have to tolerate shouldn't have to be a "fact of life."

Please help to obliterate cancer. I dream of the day that Webster's dictionary reads: cancer: an extinct disease marked by a malignant tumor of potentially unlimited growth that expands locally by invasion and systemically by metastasis

Make a donation by mailing it to me or visiting my "official" TNT website and donating online. Together we have raised nearly $11,000 over the past three years ... let's do MORE!

Our Team's Honored Patient is Simeon. Simeon is 5 1/2 years old. he has been diagnosed with TWO forms of leukemia - ALL and AML. He is an outgoing guy with a love of Star Wars. He shared with us at our kick-off meeting that he has 4 lightsabers! I think he needs to see Eric's R2D2 collection. Here's picture of Simeon and me. The "thumbs up" sign is how treatment is going for Simeon.

Won't you please help fund the research that could help Simeon beat these diseases?!?

TRIBUTE TO MAX

On Wednesday, December 13, 2006, my 3 1/2 month-old nephew, Max David, passed away from SIDS [Sudden Infant Death Syndrome]. Max was a beautiful, healthy, happy, and well-loved boy. All who met Max instantly were charmed by his warm smile and sweet personality. Please be sure to let those you love know how very dear they are in your life every day.
