| Biography:
In the year of 2001 Joe Mauer
graduated from Cretin-Derham Hall High School in St. Paul, Minnesota.
During High School he played baseball, basketball and football. He was
successful in all three of these sports. Joe only struck out one time
in his whole high school career. He lead his team to two
appearances in the class 5A championship games. Joe was awarded many
different titles while in high school. He then signed a letter from
Florida State University intending on playing football for them. In 2001, he
was the first overall player selected in the Major League Baseball
draft by his hometown team, the Minnesota Twins. In 2003, Joe began the season at Ft. Myers and he played in the Florida State League All Star Game. He was promoted to New Britain and played for the United States Team in Futures Game. He led both the Florida State League and the Eastern League in throwing out runners attempting to steal, led the Twins' minor leaguers in hits, was second in RBI and fourth in walks.
In 2004, Joe made his major league debut by singling off Rafael
Bentacourt for his first hit in the big leagues on April 5 against
Cleveland. Unfortunately, he suffered a medial meniscus tear in his
left knee two days later which required surgery and kept him out of the
lineup for more than a month. He got his first major league home run
off Esteban Yan on June 6 against Detroit. He hit for his first 2 home
run game against Chicago on June 30. But his knee was still sore,
eventually disabling him for the rest of the season. Currently Joe is catching for the
Minnesota Twins. He is wearing the number seven jersey. If you would
