Remember when Bob Barker used a custom Sony ECM-510 microphone on The Price is Right from 1992-2002? Well, I've finally got my own!

Here it is! The Sony ECM-510, in its original form! This is how it looks before CBS modified it to the custom microphone that was used season 21-season 30.

The microphone requires one AA battery, widely available wherever batteries are sold.

The barrel around the handle untwists to access the battery pack.

Note that the XLR socket on the bottom is ITT Cannon.

Trivia: Did you know that Marco Antonio Regil used a Sony ECM-510 microphone on Atínale al precio (The Price is Right in Mexico)? His microphone was wireless, using a wireless transmitter that can be attached to the male XLR output on the bottom.

And now, the moment we've all been waiting for! The Sony ECM-510 modified!

Here it is! The Sony ECM-510 modified like CBS modified Bob Barker's microphone.

Note that I did not want a 100' wire soldered, so I went with a 25' wire that I purchased at Radio Shack.

This is the part of the microphone you don't see on camera 'cause this is where Bob Barker holds the microphone, this is wrapped with heat-shrink rubber tubing.

My Sony ECM-51 and Sony ECM-510 together. Old vs. New

Because my Sony ECM-510 is modified and no longer requires a AA battery, it now requires this Nady SMPS-1X Phantom Power Supply box in order to work properly with non-phantom applications such as karaoke systems or any other applications that are not professional mixing boards.
