My custom Drew Carey microphone!

You know that custom wireless microphone Drew Carey uses on The Price is Right? Well, I'm kicking off a special project of my own. I am going to use an AudioTechnica AT859B condenser microphone to make a replica of Drew's wireless microphone!

Here it is! My very own condenser microphone! It's an AudioTechnica AT859b. It was the closest I could get to Drew's microphone. Won on eBay, delivered on December 23, 2013.

The male XLR connector that the female XLR connector or the wireless transmitter will be attached to.

No matter whether the microphone acts as Bob Barker's wired microphone or Drew Carey's wireless microphone, it requires 1 AA battery to work.

Now my AudioTechnica AT859b has the spirit of Drew Carey's custom microphone.

The wireless transmitter is a Sennheiser ew100.

Here's the bottom of the wireless transmitter, complete with power switch, muting switch, volume controls, and a battery pack.

The wireless transmitter detached from the microphone. To detach the microphone from the transmitter, you must turn the release ring around the top of the transmitter counter-clockwise until it stops and then turn it back clockwise until it stops, then pull transmitter off to detach it. Simple to detach.

The Sennheiser ew100 plug-on transmitter requires one 9-volt battery. Conveniently available wherever batteries are sold.

The Sennheiser ew100 True Diversity Receiver used with the ew100 transmitter.

The little LCD display on the transmitter displays the frequency channel. The frequency is adjustable by pushing the up and down buttons and then press "SET" to set the frequency. But the frequency on the receiver must match the frequency on the transmitter to work properly. My frequency has been set for 519.600

Here's another windscreen I decided to try out on my Drew microphone. It's an Audio Technica AT8153 windscreen.

My Drew microphone now equipped with an Audio-Technica AT8117 windscreen, which makes the microphone look more like Drew's custom microphone.
