Gladstone...The City of Industries

Gladstone is best known as the City of Industries. For example it has the World’s largest alumina plant, the Nation’s largest aluminium smelter, the State’s largest powerhouse and the State’s busiest port. These four major industries help keep the majority of Gladstone employed along with the several other industries on the outskirts. But don’t let these numerous environmentally friendly industries scare you into thinking Gladstone is an unattractive, unhealthy place to live…no far from it. Gladstone is surrounded by islands and has close access to the Great Barrier Reef and is only 500km north of Queensland’s capital, Brisbane. Consisting of sub-tropical climates, you’ll find swimming comfortable all year round. Along with the pleasures of being on the coast, Gladstone has a number of beautiful relaxing recreational areas to escape to.
