TONY FLYNN PROJECT

My Favorite things about Angelfire.

The Tony Flynn Project started out when Tony met Brandon Scott Sellner at Stardoc Studios two years into Tony learning to play guitar. From there they started to perform during the open mic Wednesdays at the Sugar Room (formerly known as the jazz Club). They eventually met Aaron Kastning playing at other open mic nights around town and began playing in Aaron's garage together, tightening up their sound. Aaron brings the funk to the snare and the high hat and the feel of rock through the kick drum and cymbals. Brandon brings the modern day blues with the feel of Stevie Ray Vaughn and Jimi Hendrix. Tony Flynn, the lead singer of the band, amplifies the instruments with his angelic and sometimes raspy voice, to bring the whole "project" together.

As they began playing shows around Mankato, they were still with out a name. It was then that Aaron thought it would be funny to name it the Tony Flynn Project on a whim and it ended up sticking. In, 2004, they won the Battle of the Bands at Mankato West High School and that same year played at the Barmuda Triangle Block Party.

Tony met fellow current band-mates,Stilesa and Rito, through local musician Phile Stoutenburg. At that time they were known collectively as the Stiles Conspiracy. Tony had played with them a few times on and off the stage. As time went on, things changed with band members, but eventually Tony, Brandon, and Stiles went on to play the 2005 Barmuda Triangle Block Party in Mankato last September, while their original drummer was on a hiatus. At that time they recruited "Wavey" Dave Hanson to help assist on the drums. Brandon currently is limited to show appearances, so when he is unable to assist, look for Travis Domeier, who played with the Project at the 2005 Halloween Bash at the Whats Up Lounge in Mankato.

Through band member changes and solo acivities, one thing is constant- the love and smooth electric sound of the Tony Flynn Project remains the same. Look for this up and coming band to stick around for years to come, and their unique musical style to grow with them.
