~Where I’m From~

I am from the old sandbox in my backyard

My dads old fishin’ boat

I am from my old red wagon which I rolled 2 summers in a row on the same old Cherry Hill

From everyday Mac and Cheese for lunch

I am from my cat tiger that I found and hid in the shed

I am from the mullet hair cuts my mom gave to me

And early mornings watching superman at the babysitters

I am from my grandma’s candy she brought for me at every visit

The chasing the boys at every recess

But never really wanting to catch them

From Aladdin, Beauty and the Beast, and 101 Dalmatians

I am from the dance practices and recitals when I was young

From the sun-bleached, green hair from memorial pool

From the snotty neighbor girl next door

I am from the roller-skating rink music blasting loud

From the gossip and rumors some true and some not

From T.G.I.F. and staying up as late as I can

I am from the late nights sneaking out under the stars

From the all night phone calls till 3 a.m.

I am from the death of my 2 grandparents

I am from fun-filled nights spent at the Hardington race tracks

And driving my go-cart with Jena in the summer
