Since about May, 1990, I had been trying to locate Michael Lee Carr, who had gone to Lakewood Senior High (in Lakewood, CA) from 1978 or 1979 to 1982. Michael Carr graduated there in 1982. Due to various circumstances, my progress was extremely slow. But, I had what might be, a breakthrough, in July, 2005. In July, 2005, my search traced him (or others with his same name) to a possible 84 addresses, phone numbers and email addresses. I eliminated those whose ages and/or middle initials did not match, leaving me with 64 possible matches. To date, I have mailed out 36 letters, made 12 phone calls and sent out 3 emails. That's 51 Michael Carr's contacted, to date...whew!!! Who would have thought there'd be so many? LOL.... This includes two addresses in Sacramento, CA. I feel most certain, the two in Sacramento are him (or were), as the DOB matced what I knew to be his birthdate. So, I wrote to both Sacramento addresses several times over the course of about six months, but did not receive a reply, nor did any of those Sacramento letters return back to me. In March, 2006, I began to check obituraries. I found nothing, but did find a link to the Social Security Death Index data base. On March 28, 2006, I found listed there, Michael L. Carr, the date of birth shown there, matched the date I knew. Also, the last city of residence listed there, matched what I had found for Sacramento. The SSDI reports his death to have been on September 13, 2003. Cause of death and burial location, are still unknown to me. I hope, very much, that this is a case of mistaken identity, on my part. I have not been able to locate any of his siblings or parents (it would help, if I knew their names, LOL)... UPDATE!!!!
April 10, 2007: Back on December 28, 2006, I had resumed my search for Mike Carr. I was able to find the phone number to his mother and had phoned her. She did confirm that he had died on September 13, 2003 of a serious illness. I also, had been searching for other friends of mine, and was able to contact the sister of Mike Elliot. She emailed me back recently, that he too, had died before Mike Carr did. I looked him up in the SSDI data base, and saw that he had died on December 25, 1993, although his sister says he died in 1995. Well, whichever year is correct, doesn't really matter now. I still have the same reality to deal with and accept. Two of my friends have died before I could find them again.
