The 2005 Cadillac Escalade is a 4-door, up to 8-passenger luxury sport-utility,
available in two trims, the 2WD and the AWD. Upon introduction, the 2WD is equipped
with a standard 5.3-liter, V8, 295-horsepower engine that achieves 14-mpg in
the city and 18-mpg on the highway. The AWD is equipped with a standard 6.0-liter,
V8, 345-horsepower engine that achieves 13-mpg in the city and 17-mpg on the
highway. A 4-speed automatic transmission with overdrive is standard on both
trims. The 2005 Cadillac Escalade is a carryover from 2004.
Billed as a sport utility truck, the Escalade EXT was introduced during the
2002 model year. Essentially, it's an Escalade SUV with a pickup-truck back
end. For 2004, XM Satellite Radio, a trailering package and a tire-pressure
monitor became standard. Rated at 345 horsepower, the 6.0-liter V-8 works with
a four-speed-automatic transmission. A new instrument cluster and an upgraded
navigation system are installed for 2005.
