My 2 Yellow-Bellied Sliders ( Sugar & Spice )
Their about a year and 2 months old and should grow to about 15 - 19".

How it started.... After having a friend of mine from El Paso show me her large turtle after returning home I was in love! I looked and called everywhere for a place that sold something besides the usual Red-Ear Sliders. I found a little pet store that had some yellow bellied and red bellied sliders. I drove all the way over there and they were very small and there was sign about how they could only sell these for educational use. So, I was scared they weren't going to sell, but they did. She told me to pick which ones I wanted and I chose 2 of the prettiest. They were put in a little bag and off I drove to Petsmart for an aquarium, etc. Little did I know how expensive my babies would be. I should have been smart and bought a large tank, but decided on a little 10 gallon. Bought that and a stand, filter, decoration, gravel, food, light, light fixture, and other things that cost around $200. After arriving home I was nervous to touch them and put them in the tank. After learning more about them and seeing them grow tremendously I begged my parents for a 55 gallon for Xmas. I did receive the tank and a new filter and everything ( So the whole $200 on the little tank stuff was worthless). Decided on a " river " theme for the tank. Drove to a rock place and bought some river rocks and to the local Home Depot for the PVC pipes. I've also added fake plants and a couple of bricks. I did have 2 large plecos and several guppies, but one by one the turtles have attacked them and I am left with one lonely catfish. I'm really happy with the outcome of their home now and I know they love it! I would recommend turtles to everyone as long as they know of the hard work to follow. I can't wait till they grow to be large adult turtles. As soon as I am able to move out I'm planning on building a pond for them to be more comfortable in and then I'll be able to get several more! But enough with the typing...heres the link to the pictures!
