Professional Communications 1

Professional Communications was the foundation course for on line learning.  This is where students learned how to use Microsoft Outlook Express, how to thread discussions, and how to write in APA format.  This was class was extremely important for students that had never participated in an online class.

Foundations of Distance Education and Training 2

During the Foundations of Distance Education and Training class, the students discussed the difference of asynchronous learning and synchronous learning.  This class laid the foundation for the other theory and instructional classes.  This class was filled with many debates about best practices in adult education.

Adult Learning: Theories, Principles and Applications 3

Theories, Principals, and Applications was a course that taught the students how adults learn.  This class focused on the difference between adult learners and the typical college student.  The students discussed how a class would be designed for adults and how it might be designed for a typical college class.

Instructional Design 3

Though out the Instructional Design course we discussed what the key aspects of a presentation were .  We debated the difference between goals and objectives, and were given the opportunity to design a course for adult learners.  This course was an important course since it is the basis of the degree program.

Assessment and Evaluation in E-Education 3

Assessment and Evaluation in E-Education was course that allowed the students to explore the differences between traditional assessment techniques and alternative assessment techniques.  The students were required to design both traditional and alternative assessments.  The discussions consisted of which form of assessment were better.  There was a big emphasis on the current “No Child Left Behind Law” and if the assessment designed for that were a good measure of the school districts effectiveness.

Research and Ethics in E-Education 3

This course focused more on statistics then research.  This course required the students to pull out the math skills that they have not used for years.  The students were required to do a great deal of research as well as analyze the data that was collected.  This course also required a very unique assessment for UOP and required the teams to complete a statically math worksheet.

Information Technology 3

This course focused on how computers work alone, and how they work together in a system.  This course had many students becoming best friends with the technology personnel at their current place of employment.  We discussed the different network systems that we had in place at our places of employment and the pros and cons of each.  The students also developed ideas that they may be able to incorporate to make their jobs at work easier.

Internet and Distance Education Delivery 3

This class focused heavily on the team.  The teams had to design and instruct class for one out of the six-week course. The team focused on course management and design principals.  This course encompassed many of the previous course material into the goals and objectives.  The Internet and Distance Education Delivery course allowed students not only to design a week long course but also participate in a student run course.
