Our trip to WDW started out on December 20, 2002. We flew from Thunder Bay to Minneapolis, and then to Orlando. We had a little bit of a scare when we got to Thunder Bay. We were getting our plane tickets when the ticket lady said "I'm sorry sir, but it looks like thereare no seats for you for the flight from Minneapolis to Orlando" My dad was getting pretty pissed off at the ticket lady while my mom went to call the lady at the travel agency. The travel agency lady said that the seats just weren't assigned for the plane and that we had to get our tickets in Minneapolis. So there was a huge breath of releive throughout the three of us.
I was so excited on the plane from Minneapolis to Orlando that I couldn't sleep a wink! I was up and looking out the window the whole entire time! When we were flying over Orlando, the piolet came on the over head speaker and told us that if we looked out to the right, we would beable to see Cinderella's Castle. I felt my mom jump up and down when she heard that. I heard my dad laugh, along with the other person in their row laugh as well. It was mom's first time to Disney World, although, my Dad hasn't been since he went with his first wife, and their three sons in 74, so it was basically his first time too. I was the only one who has been in 'recent' years. When the plane touched down at the Orlando International Airport, we ran to gather our bags, and head over to the Taxi stand to catch a cab from the airport to our Disney World Resort. I was really excited, because the last time I went, we didn't stay on the property, we stayed in St. Cloud Kissimee, which is really close, but it just wasn'tt he same. My dad got into the front of the cab, and my mom and I hopped in the back. We were both giggling like little school girls, as I was telling my mom about all the cool things she'd like to do. My dad was joking to the cab driver "Those are my little 10 year old daughters in the back seat" my dad laughed, but the cabbie just kinda chuckled...he didn't find it quite as amusing *shrugs*
We got to our resort - Allstars Music Resort - a little after midnight, and my mom got us checked in, along with our 4 day hopper passes. By the time we found our room it was close to 1:00am, and we still hadn't ate supper yet. With all the excitement, we totally forgot to eat! Quite amazing, but it happened...lol...We ordered late night pizza from the food court. It was pretty good pizza considering, I hate almost everything my parents get on a pizza besides pepperoni, and my parents get EVERYTHING on it...lol...After we ate, we were all pretty tired, so we went to sleep, and it was 2:30-3:00 am by this time.
When we got to Magic Kingdom, my dad took a picture of my mom's face as soon as we got inside the gates. The look on my moms face was priceless. I wish I had the picture on my computer. She was crying, and she had this huge smile plastered on her face. It makes me smile just to think of my mom that day.
After we got someone to take our picture with Cinderella's castle in the back ground, we decided to walk up Main Street U.S.A, and when we got closer to the castle, we saw there was a show going on, so the three of us decided to catch the show. It was the "Every Day is a Holiday" show. My parents were near the back, and I decided to see if I could get a close view so I could take some pictures. I managed to get quite a bit closer and I got some really good pictures of the show. The show was pretty amazing. All the disney characters were dancing, and singing about all the different holidays. It was pretty neat. After the show was over I went to see my parents, and everyone cleared. After most of the people cleared, the characters came back out for a photo shoot. I was right up near the front. The pictures I got from that were awesome!
After the show we decided to walk around a little bit, just to check everything out. We decided to try Tomorrow Land first. We walked around Tomorrow Land, and I saw Space Mountain. I never made it on Space Mountain when I was at the park the first time, because I was with my friend, and her 2 little sisters, and they didn't wanna wait in line, so I missed oout. I told my mom all about it, and how much I really wanted to go, and I convinced her to come on with me. We saw the thing for the fast pass, and we asked a cast member about it, and we found out that you put your ticket into the distribution thing, and they give you a ticket with a time in a one hour window to go back to the ride, and when you go back in your allotted time slot, you get on the ride with little, or no wait. We decided that we would just beplanning our day around the attractions, so we decided against getting the fast pass, cuz we didn't want to plan our day around rides, and stuff. Not getting the fast pass turned out to be a major mistake! We waited in line for close to an hour for to get on the ride. We decided next time we have a chance to get a fast pass on something, we're gonna get one! It beats wasting the day away waiting in line. The ride was soo awesome! It was even better then I expected! My mom thought it was pretty fun too! She even told me she almost peed her pants..LOL..It was that good :D
Next we decided to grab a quick hot dog from a hot dog vendor in Tomorrow Land. The hot dogs may have been overpriced (3.00 per hot dog!) but they ahd to have been the best hot dogs I ahve EVER had, and I've eaten a lot of hotdogs! After the best hot dogs EVER, we decided to go and check fantsy land, but on our way over we saw disney characters who were posing for pictures and signing autographs. I started jumping up and down and I ran to stand in line for Chip and Dale while mom and dad had the cameras.
Before I go on, I should mention one thing. Every June, my dad goes for his last bread trim, after that he lets it grow. His beard it naturally white, and fluffy. And he's short, and well...chunky...Does that description sound familiar? Yes...my dad looks like SANTA CLAUS! He's always got kids coming up to him and thinking hes Santa...It is SOO cute! Anyways...back to the story
After we got done with the characters, and got our pictures taken, we headed to Fantasy Land. We walked around, and my mom decided she wanted to ride Cinderella's Golden Carosel. It was really cute! lol
After taking a tour of Fantasy Land we headed over to Fronteir Land. I spent the whole afternoon trying to convince my mom to come on Splash Mountain, and Big Thunder Railroad with me, but she out right refused...lol...My mom's not as big on the rides as she used to be. She used to LOVE rides, and I used to HATE rides, my oh my how the tables have turned...lol...After walking around Fronteir land, we decided to head over to Epcot. We headed to the transportation center, and boarded the Monorail. I LOVE the monorail...lol...I love any time of train to tell you the truth...lol...We got to Epcot just in time for the Holidays Around the World ceramony, in which they light the lights on the Christmas tree (which was beautiful, by the way) and they also light the walk way from the gate to the tree. The ceramony was really nice. They played some Carolyn Chimes, and there was some singing. It was very nice.
After the ceramony, we went wondering around World Showcase, while waiting for Illuminations: Reflections of the Earth fire work display. We went through all the shops, and took a look at all the menus for something to eat, but we all wanted different things. I wanted Chinese, mom and Dad didn't...Mexican was out, because I don't like spicy food, and Dad can't handle it...I didn't want to even go near Japanese...Dad said Italian would give him a heart burn, and Canada looked too expensive for just a quick meal, so all in all, we decided to go to the American Adventure for a burger...lol..After we ate, we decided to walk around a bit more, much to my poor feet's dismay. Finally around 8:30, we decided to go and grab a spot for Illuminations.
Because I'm so short, I was able to squeeze in and grab a sport at the front to take some pictures. It was cute because there was this little chinese man, instructing me how to use my camera...lol...I just listened, and I was amused. I've had the camera for a few years, no need for someone to tell me how to work the thing...lol...Anyhoo, the fire display was really nice, and beautiful! It was better this year, then it was when I saw it 5 years before! After the show, we decided to head back to the hotel. It was nearly 10:00, and we were all beat down and tired! We were going going going all day with no stopping. It was a great day though.
