Day 2 - Animal Kingdom

December 22, 2002

On our second real day of our trip, we decided to go to Disney's Animal Kingdom. It was exciting, because it was my first time there because the park opened a year after I had been there, and I LOVE animals! I was really excited to see the Lions, Tigers and Cheetahs especially. Unfortunatly, my feet were full of blisters and stuff from the day before. They were so swollen, I had to wear SLIPPERS in stead of shoes! It was that bad...I caution everyone who reads this...WHERE COMFORTABLE SHOES THAT ARE ALREADY BROKEN IN!...cause, if you don't, you're feet will be filled with blisters, and so sore that you can hardly walk!...Anyways, Before we headed to the park, we went to the food court for something to eat. The omlettes are the BEST! I had a cheddar cheese ommlette, and I have never had a better one! After breakfast, we went to the bus depot, and hopped on the Disney Bus to the Animal Kingdom.

As soon as we got there, we saw the Animal Kingdom Chirstmas Tree, and it was beautiful. It had these carvings of all the different Animals. It really was something. After we got into the park, we grabbed a few maps, one to look at and a couple to keep as souveniers. Right away my mom said that she wanted to go and see the 3D show "It's tough to be a bug" so we went to Discovery Island and got out fast passes for the show. After grabing the fast passes, we walked around a little and visited some of the shops there...I ended up buying an Animal Kingdom shirt with tigers on it :D After shopping, it was time to head back to Discovery Island for the show. The show was AWESOME! I was not, however, impressed witht he spiders, even though they are cartoons, it still made me grip onto my Dad's arm...lol...This show had to bet he best one we took in so far. After the show we decided to take a tour of Dino Land U.S.A.

Dino Land was pretty cool. I talked my mom into going on this one small roller coaster called the Prima Whirl. I told her that it didn't look that bad, so we grabbed our fast passes, and walked around some more. When we went back to the ride, my mom went to the bathroom, and my dad watched the ride my mom and I were about to go on. It turns out it wa a little worse then I thought it was. It wasn't bad, by my standard, but my mom might think it was a bit much. When my mom saw the big dips, she almost backed out, but I convinced her to go on with me. I put her into a little bit of a guilt trip, about not giving my a brother or a sister my age *gigles* Anyhoo, we went on the ride and it was one of the best rides I have ever been on. It's a small roller coaster where the carts spin, not really fast, but just enough to make the ride a bit more thrilling...lol...My mom had fun on it too, so it was all good...lol

After the Primeval Whirl we did some more walking and we stumbled across this thing called the bone yard. It turns out it was a play ground...lol...Since I'm a really big kid at heart, my mom told em to go and play, just jokingly of course, but I said "SURE!" I ran as fast as my blistered feet would allow me, and I went down a slide, totally taking my mom by surprise...lol...she told me to go down again and she would take a picture of me, which I gladly did. I believe that picture is on my animal kingdom picture page.

After we did the bone yard, we went to check out Africa for a bit. While we were walking, I noticed a trail with a marker saying "Meet your favourite characters here!" and it had a picture of Winnie, Piglet and Eyore. I asked me parents if we could check out the lines. Surprisingly there was a very small line! I would have though that with advertising it like that there would be a 3 hour line up...lol...but there wasn't, sow e took advantage of the opportunity and got in line. Of course, the three characters reacted the same way to my dad as all the other had. They akk jumped around and they took turns sitting on my dad's lap and hugging him! There was a professional photographer taking pictures of everyone with the characters and they wanted a pic of all the characters around my dad, so Piglet and Eeyore hopped on his lap, and Winnie got in behind them...We got that picture professionally taken. We got a 5X7, and 4 wallets. One for me, and one for each of my brothers. After my dad was finished hogging the characters my mom and me got our turns with each of them...lol...this trip to Disney World was turning out to be the best trip I've ever gone on.

After meeting the characters, we walked around Africa some more and we grabbed a fast pass at one of the attractions there called "Kilaminjaro Safari" which was a safri into the jungles of Africa to see a whole bunch of african animals like rhinos, hippos, lions, tigers and bears oh my...well...except for the tigers and bears, but I think you get the picture :D...While we were walking around and shopping my mom and I were sitting down, with my slippers off to give my feet a break, we heard music approaching, and we were wondering what the line up along the street was. I put my slippers back on and we saw a parade coming! We were able to catch Mickey's Jammin Jungle Parade! It was pretty cool. All the floats were of African and Asian ethnicity. After the parade was over, we headed back towards the Kilaminjaro Safaris because it was within our fast pass time...When we got onto the ride, we realized we were apart of a scenario...The sceanrio was a bunch of people on a safari, and there was a poacher in the woods that we had to catch...it was pretty cool...I got many pictures of animals while we were on this "jungle trek" it was awesome, especially for animal lovers like myself. After we were done the Jungle trek, we decided to leave the Aniaml Kingdom, because the park was going to close soon, and I never got a chance to go to Asia, to go on the other animal encounter attraction. I really wanted to see some Tigers. Tigers are one of my most favourite animals. Oh well...I'll be sure to make it there when I go back again :D

After we left the Animal kingdom, we decided to go back to the hotel for a little rest and grab something to eat for dinner at the food court. After the food court we decided to go back to Epcot considering we didn't get a chance to really look around the last time we were there.

When we were walking around Epcot we got to look into more of the World Showcase. It was pretty neat...I really wanted to gfrab some german chocolate while I was in Germany, but my feet were so sore, I couldn't stand still long enough to actually look for some. That's how bad my feet were hurting...and I was worried about my dad and his legs while we were there! My dad didnt complain once about his feet, or his legs...lol...I felt like such a baby! but oh well, it really couldn't be helped...lol...Around 10:00 we decided to get out of Epcot and head back to the hotel to crash for the night. Another magical day was gone, and another one was ahead of us.
