early stuff
this is everything i can bear to have read that i wrote before high school. *tries to resist the urge to edit*

i started writing poetry when i was 11. this is the first one ever.

Woke up this morning and i couldn't believe
I looked in the mirror - saw someone thirty
Feels like just yesterday that i was twelve
oh where has the time gone

mom is getting old - dad is too
the kids are growing themselves anew
my brother's getting married this fine day
oh where has the time gone

the days pass
so do the years
they just go too fast
you're born and then you die

I wrote this in september of 7th grade. I was so proud of it i showed it to my parents and my english teacher.

i miss the days of summer
when the clouds roll by
in a beautiful blue sky
and no one sighs a long sigh

i miss the days of summer
warm days at the beach
no teachers around to teach
though on your foot you may find a leech
i still miss the days of summer

the days of summer are gone now
and to my infinite sorrow
i heard "tomorrow it may snow"
on my little old radio

i wish it wasn't freezing out
that i could be up and about
that it was warm out
that it was summer still.

this was for the school newspaper in... 7th grade, probably.

The sun has come out from the clouds
the trees have dropped their shrouds
I can see the grass again,
I stare out the window and listen to Everything's Zen
Soon it will be warm
Many insects in a swarm
But I don't mind
Cause the weather's so fine
Wild flowers running through the fields
Green leaves on trees yield
A beautiful picture-postcard setting
And now the sky is letting
It's raining again
And I'm glad it's spring

i'm not sure about this one, but it looks like maybe i had to write it for school. i spelled blu that way on purpose because my best friend at the time had named her hermit crab blu.

Sadness is blu
it sounds like weeping
it tastes like saltwater
it smells like death
it looks like a bent, sobbing woman
it makes me sad too
