Bustin Dustin's

BM2K2 Pictures

I didn't finish the descriptions for all of the pictures, so if you have any questions, comments, or you would just like to email me, you can do so at dustinebert@yahoo.com

"Friends" -Probably my most favorite picture from this year's collection!
Happy people: Jessica, "Bend-you're-mind", Bill, and myself, "Bustin Dustin"

First day after we got our camp set up!
Bill is trying out his bucket-stilts

Our first sunset of burning man 2002
...Serenity...

Our friend Jason (Q)'s art car, "Little Dick"
...It was one of the 'little' whales on the playa...

This is the first time I've known someone with an "Art Car", plus he spent over 8 months building it, so i wanted to take lots of pictures!

One of the 2 close-up shots of the whale's tail.
There was a cool plaque, but it fell off before they arrived :(

Sleeping during the day wasn't hard because of the heat, but avoiding the sun was a task!

We used the back of our truck as a kitchen to try and cut back on dust ingestion... it also made a comfy makeshift bedroom as Saranie demonstrates

This is one view of the inside of our "home".
W e fit a moving truck, a car, a 20-ft. geodesic dome, a 10-ft canopy and 4 tents all under a 55-ft. parachute with room to spare! it was great!

Graffiti mural dome by Dutro.
...'Burning Seas'...

Another Art car, at night...
Ever play Battlezone on Atari??
-Reprazentin' the old skool, yo!

The Man, lit up at night with visitors below...
The structure he was on was supposed to be a lighthouse.

A look at Center Camp from the opposite side of the Esplanade.
Not too many people out during the day, but at night this area is swarming with bodies.

An "aerial" view of our camp from atop our neighbor's dome. You can see the outlines of the geodesic dome, the truck and the canopy.
We had to 'ghetto rig' the parachute with some extra poles for some support so that it wouldnt sag so much, but thats kind of the burning man way... ghetto... er, uh... improvised!!

Pretty much everyone at Burning Man has their own unique camp setup.
These are some of our neighor's tents...

A Picture of me atop our neighbor's dome looking towards Center Camp.

Myself on top of our neighbor's dome in front of our 'home'...
Gotta be proud!

Chris, one of our neighbors, swinging from their geodesic dome like a monkey; Naked and Wild!
...EE-EE...OO-OO...

Early morning drum circle.
Anyone can just get together and jam!

This was my 3rd year attending Burning Man, and for the 3rd year in a row, i think this was my most favorite art instalation.
Imaging spending so much time designing, planning and building such a complex detailed structure/art piece, just to burn it down!

To me, the whole proccess that this installment goes through from beginning to end is kind of the essence of what the "Burning Man" festival represents!
-It means SOO much, but still so little...

This picture, and the 3 following pictures were taken from the orange fence that encloses Black Rock city.

I like to take pictures of the environment in which the city is built...

yup.....

You can barely see the man to the right of my head on the horizon

Burn Scars... :(

A closeup of the damage fire does to the playa...

This picture was taken from the man, looking back towards Center Camp and the rest of Black Rock City.

Ahhh... My first Chainmaille "Art Piece".

I met some of the cool people that run the "Spoon Return Center" one night...

...They gave me a spoon, and when I went to their camp to return it, they said I had to decorate it!...

...I had been making chainmaille jewelry and little chainmaille burning men, so I thought it would be interesting to see if I could make a "chainmaille spoon"...

...I drilled holes along the whole thing, then started adding links, making up a design as I went along!...

I am very proud of my spoon, so I had to take a lot of pictures... Especially because I gave it away about a half hour after I was finished with it!

Check it out next year at the
"Spoon Return Center"!!

The Fire Procession begins on the night of the Burn...
