..........HFStival concert review ~*~*~*~ Dates: May 25 & 26, 2002 ~*~*~*~ FIRST DAY: Well, i got a really painful sunburn while standing in the same spot for 3 hours in front of the Street Stage. I was trying to preserve my front row center spot! But it was well worth it... =) And at the main stage, i got pretty close to some of my favorite bands. So it was pretty tyte! And Tommy Lee was a special guest, and came out to announce one of the bands. I didn't have any time to stop by the Buzz Tent, but i passed by the Local Stage quite a few times... . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . PERFORMANCE REVIEWS: . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . *Little Kings: These guys were pretty awesome for being "little people";)... They were a good choice as the opening band on the Main Stage. > > > > > > *Sev: OMG- fuhking awesome is all i can say about their performance! They were as great as i thought they were gunna be! I love them! "All These Dreams" was my fave song they played. > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > *Quarashi: I wasn't sure about these guys at first, but they were actually pretty damn good. The crowd seemed into them... and it was so funny when the drummer knocked all his shyt over near the end! "Stick Em Up" was my fave song they played. > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > *Citizen Cope: I got really excited when i found out this guy was playing- and he was great. "Contact" was by far my favorite song that he played. > > > > > *Trik Turner: I seriously didn't know if i was either going to love or hate these guys- but i can tell you now- they were awesome! They totally rocked- i know they made some new fans out of their performance! "Sacrifice" was my fave song they played. > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > *Goldfinger: OMG! These guys were great! Punk rock all the way! I was so happy to be right there in front of them! The crowd loved them and went absolutely crazy over any song they played. That's probably why 4 people fell on my head thru the course of their show… and why I came outta there with a bruised rib=( But when they pulled that guy out of the crowd and let him eat a twinkie out of the drummer's bare ass... well... that was just fuhkin funny! (and sick!) "Open Your Eyes" and "99 Red Balloons" were my fave songs they played. > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > *New Found Glory: Yes!! I finally got to see them live! It was great! And they played all my fave songs- and a bunch of new ones! They drew a huge crowd, and i was lucky to be right there, front and center, taking pictures every 5 minutes. lol. I loved every song they played. > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > *Hoobastank: I am honestly sick of every song on their cd ('cept #11), but i must admit, they were GOOD. And the crowd loved them and went crazy over every song they did. I didn't really have a fave song they played. > > > > > > *Eminem: I was waiting all day to see this dude! And he was awesome. And he played all my fave songs and a ton of new ones! And he was funny as hell. The only part that wasn't that funny was opening up with "White America"... you shoulda seen the look on some people's faces... (lol). > > > > > > > > > > - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - SECOND DAY: I guess you could say the second day was the best... this was the day that most people came. Again, i didn't get to go by the Buzz Tent, but i passed by the Local Stage a buncha times. Kelly Osbourne was the special guest who announced a couple of the bands. It was crowded, hot as hell, and as fun as shyt. I finally caught one of the Paul Reed Smith Guitar shirts they were throwing out into the crowd over at the Street Stage! And i got a sunburn on top of the sunburn i already had. Yeah, fun as shyt=) > > > > > > > > > > > *Abandoned Pools: They were great from what i saw- i got to them late, so i don't know if they played my fave song or not... ("Mercy Kiss") =P *Loudermilk: Wow- these guys were not what i thought they were gonna be! They were pretty awesome! And i caught the drummer's broken drumstick! Woo! I don't remember what my fave song they played was... > > > > > > > *GOB: What can i say? Finally seeing these guys live just fed my obsession for them even more=P They were so fuhkin awesome, and so funny... and i was so psyked to catch Tom's water bottle cap! ahh! they were great & played all my songs! But i guess "I Hear You Calling" or "Paint It Black" was my fave song that they played. > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > *Good Charlotte: Well, i got to them late, only because GOB's set on the Street Stage ran into their's (on the Main Stage). But hey, that's what happens when 2 of your fave bands play on 2 different stages. But of course, like always, they rocked! And Benji and Joel are still cute as hell=) i loved every song i got to hear. > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > *Our Lady Peace: I stood right outside the stadium when these guys played, so i really didn't SEE them, but they were really good from what i HEARD=) "Superman's Dead" was my fave song they played. > > > > > > > > > > > > *Unwritten Law: Dude, these guys were rockin! They had the whole place goin! And the live version of "Seein Red" is like, 1000 times better than the regular version. So, "Seein Red" was my fave song they did. > > > > > > > Hoobastank: Well, same as the day before=) > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > *SUM 41: Again, i am sick and tired of every song on their latest cd, but Bizzy is so cute, you can't help but watch=) And yeah, it's gotta be said, they were great=) > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > *Alien Ant Farm: Well, there was no AAF!=( it's not fair... but i've seen them before... and at least they're not dead=P And guess who they had fill in for them??... > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > *New Found Glory!!: Yep! They were almost as good as the day before! They rocked again tho! > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > *Papa Roach: ...You know what i'm gonna say=)- PAPA ROACH FUHKIN RULES! Yeah- they were awesome! And more then half of the songs they played were new ones and let me tell ya- I'm gettin their new cd the first day it comes out! I don't remember what the name of my fave song that they played was... it was one of their other new ones. > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > *POD: OMG, these guys were amazing. Even better than what i expected. It was kinda distracting when i got caught in a huge mosh pit and had about 12 people fall on my head during the first part, but after i got outta all that, it was great. And when they played "Southtown", i fuhkin lost it. That song brings out so many emotions in me... and to hear them play it live, and to hear the emotion in Sonny's voice... it's unexplainable. I cried, i headbanged, it was awesome. And then when they started playing "Youth Of The Nation", i was like "Alright! Cool!"... but then near the end when Sonny keeps saying "Youth of the nation...", he was on the verge of tears, and you could hear it in his voice; and when the singer gets emotional, i get emotional. So i was practically crying, too. I saw other people doing the same thing also. I guess it was just an emotional moment;) The only minor disappoinment (if there ever was one) was that they didn't play "Rock The Party" -but it was still great! And "Boom" is great live, too. POD rocks! "Southtown" was my fave song they played. Enuff said. > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > *X- Ecutioners: Yeah, i actually stayed to see these guys close the show- that's only cuz i heard some bogus rumor that System of A Down was gunna be the suprise closing act. *rolls eyes*. These guys were good, tho. They've got flow. lol. > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > OVERALL: The whole thing was awesome! Except when they had that “Korn tease” where they showed up on the screen, waving at the camera from backstage- & everyone thought they were gunna come out and perform… grrr- that made me mad! LOL… can’t wait to see who’s gunna be there next year!
