grr, i hate when you type an entire post, and blogger louses up and doesn't post publish it, so you have to retype it from memory. yeah, that sucks. so this is yesterday's post, from january 13th.
anyway...we performed our scene today in spotlight. it went...alright, i suppose. there were a few lines forgotten and ad-libbed unfortunately, but it wasn't a complete train wreck. the response from the class was generally good; they all commented on how lovely my british accent was. that made my day. and they seemed to enjoy the character i played. it's fun to be a stuffed-shirt! oh, and i got to make the toilet-flush sound offstage. that also made my day.
we have five rehearsals until opening night for oklahoma!. God help us all.
oh, and exams = bad, off-campus long lunches = good.

i discovered last night that John Williams composed the score for a British television movie version of Jane Eyre, back in 1971. i immediately dashed to download the music, and discovered that it is extremely rare. but i did manage to come by Jane Eyre's Theme, and the Overture (Main Title). Let me tell you, I am extremely impressed with John William's ability to compose low-key scores. everybody is accostumed to hearing his bombastic, enormous soundtracks for big-budget action movies and spielberg films, but this really is a hidden masterpiece. absolutely plainly gorgeous...delicate, and beautiful, just like the novel. a real treat.
i highly recommend Jane Eyre's Theme (i haven't finished DLing the Overture.) it's mostly violin, oboe, and horn soloists backed by piano and orchestra. if you can't find it to download, i'll burn it for you gladly. it's really wonderful.
i did track down the complete soundtrack on ebay. it's a trite little thing, only about a half-hour of music, but what little there is of it...is excellent. and i don't know why it says 1982, but it's only $9 as of now including shipping, so i think i may buy it. or if you're a lovely person, you'll buy it for me and give to me on my birthday or another momentous occasion. ::chuckle:: now if only i could find a decent film version of Jane Eyre, then my life would be complete. hehe.
meanwhile, i found John William's & the Boston Pops version of the Super Mario Brothers theme. it's a riot! really great, but makes me laugh. whoda thunk that the three-part crappy quality midi looped in the background of a Nintendo game from the mid-1980's could become a piece played by an entire symphony, directed by John Williams nonetheless.
A Beautiful Mind comes on television today. i'm going to record it. my parents still haven't seen it yet. i loved that movie.
well, i must get back to work--i have an algebra II review to complete, a scene to finish memorizing, a monologue to memorize (which i have yet to decide on, but i do have an idea), history notes to organize and complete, a flute solo to learn, movies to watch. (: busy busy sunday.
