After lots of practice I finally glued the parts of the centrecase together, making sure the shape was still more or less as required. I left some wood on the outside, so I had enough left to make it fit later.

After sawing out the parts with a electric jigsaw (with the drill the only electric machine I used) you can fit some of the shapes together. This was about the quickest progress I made ;-) The jigsaw was handy to have.

My first wood scrap! Isn't it beautiful? I bought a small plane (on the photo) and a good handplane after throwing away a cheap one. They told me not to buy cheap stuff, but I couldn't resist.

The rudder planed. It was a great revelation to see what you can do with a hand plane. I never thought I could make a piece of wood round and make it smooth as well!

Planing the centreboard. The wood I bought wasn't enterily dry, so first I had to hand-plane it straight, and then plane it to a NACA-ish profile. Next time I'll make sure the wood is dryer before I work with it. I asked a guy in Enschede to saw some big pieces for me, and plane some things straight. Better to leave my wood to dry first before bringing it to someone else. That could have saved me lots of work. But on the other hand, I got lots of nice muscles from all that planing, and I had good music with that too!
Sitting on the board proved good to be able to give good power to the plane, and still keep the board in place.
