Guitarist John Carlini

CONCERT:
Friday, May 9, 2003
8pm

Guitarist John Carlini brings his stunning quartet here for the first time, but it's not the first time he's played for the Arts Center.  He was featured at their 25th anniversary dinner dance.  You may have caught him when he appeared with Rio Clemente at Morristown.

Some will argue that he's the best guitarist around, or at least among the best, but you cannot deny that he keeps good company.  He's appeared many times with mandolin innovator David Grisman, and you might have caught his duet with violin legend Stéphane Grappelli in the movie King of the Gypsies.

He also manages to surround himself with great sidemen.  In this case, count on Don Stiernberg on mandolin, coming in from Chicago for this gig.  Brian Glassman is on string bass, and Steve Holloway plays drums.  All acoustic, by the way.  Count on a mainstream, string-band-plus-percussion sound, perhaps something a little different than you've heard before.
