From the Heart…

We are business people. We sell products and try to make profits. This is the rule of the game. All time rule. But sometimes rules change when situations change and markets change and the whole world changes. In some particular cases, changes come from meeting people who influence your business and the way you do business, the way you think and how you try to reach your goals. Those are the businesslike, shrewd and common people who teach you the trade, who show you the rope and how to make money. And there is another kind of people, a far superior breed that can influence your whole life. So, for a short time, may be a little bit more, a little bit longer time, you start to think differently about yourself and your business, your neighbors, and your pets…

Maximillien de La Croix is one of those very rare and special people who make you think and rethink your life, your values and your priorities. As an artist, de La Croix is a giant. As a writer and an author, he is amazingly versatile, prolific and impressive. As a man, de La Croix is Man Of All Men! Bigger than life with a legendary generosity, compassion and a  goodness bigger than the oceans we sail and the lands we inhabit.

De La Croix, the aristocrat who shared his house with the homeless…the man who fed the hungry and comfort the poor…the man who gave his life and assets to the blind, the weak, the orphans and so many orphanages around the world…the noble man who donated everything he owned to charity and the needy without asking anything in return.

Asked about what should be written on his grave stone, de La Croix replied: “ I did not come to the world to change it but to make it prettier and happier and to help all those who need help and especially those could not return the favor”.

We represented de La Croix’s art as dealers and independent agents for quite some time now. We did well. Business was good. De La Croix’s art was a good commodity. This is as far as business goes with aspirations, successes, money and limitations. However, when you talk about de La Croix the human being, there is no limitation and measurements to goodness, successes in life and real values. We served the man as his agents. He served us better. He influenced the lives of so many people who worked with us at the agency, exhibitions, sales transactions and in the privacy of their homes and families. So many thanks and gratitude we wish to covey to de La Croix and to his family for being a part of our life. We learned a lot from him. We will keep on representing him everywhere in the world, and everywhere in the world we will praise his name and remember his wisdom and big heart. He shall not be forgotten! Our deep sympathy to his family and his friends throughout the world, and God knows they are so many.

We  love to share with you some of this great man sayings and proverbs we found in the books he wrote about life, people and happiness of the world. De La Croix wrote:

From de La Croix writings: Randomly selected from his books. *

“The generosity of your heart is your one way ticket to immortality.”

“Be always generous with and toward everybody and particularly with those who cannot return the favor.”

“The universe is made for all of us. There are plenty of rooms. Do not take two.”

“Fight loudly, give and forgive silently.”

“Don’t tell a lie if you have a bad memory.”

“You might conquer the world with your wealth and power but you will always depart alone. Only unconditional love makes others feel your presence, might, wealth and power wherever you go. And when you go, you will never depart alone.”

“Don’t stretch your feet longer than your bed if you have a hungry dog in the house.”

“Always ask a baker to cook your bread, even if he takes half of it.”

“He laughed for so long, he forgot what he was laughing about.”

“Lawyers should only be allowed to drive on a one-way street.”

“If a monkey is reading your map, don’t expect to arrive on time.”

“A woman holds the umbrella and the man holds the woman.”

“Count to ten, but please let me know what you are thinking about.”

“You can turn in circles only if you are the Earth we live on.”

“Guests who arrive late are always excused if their gifts arrived first.”

“Give me a happy family and I will give you a happy country.”

“Make your country a country of milk powder not gun powder.”

“The most beautiful sight to my eyes is the smile of the woman I love.”

“As my friend you will always enter my humble home from the front door and will leave from the back. But, if you change that, I will know you are no longer my friend.”

“All happy families are alike in their happiness. Only unhappy families are different in their unhappiness.”

“In a race, you should always finish first, because only your wife and your dog will remember if you have finished second.”

“Do not volunteer if you are not needed. It is just like a free advice; your friends don’t need it. Your enemies would not believe it.”

“It takes fifty chinchilla corpses to make one coat, and just one to wear it.”

“Once a wise man said: A penny saved is a penny earned. The truth I tell you: A penny well spent is two pennies earned.”

“Do not fully trust a man who has never lost a thing in his life.”

“Dry dock, empty ship.”

“Be yourself when you meet others. Be the others when you meet yourself.”

“Watch your enemy once, your friends twice, and yourself all the time.”

“If you have fooled me three times, is because I let you fool me twice.”

“Don’t milk the cow if your bucket is not handy.”

“Instead of feeding the hungry salmons and lobsters, teach them how to fish.”

“Go early to bed and get bored alone.”

“Two kinds of people I wonder about: Those who go to bed early and those wake up late.”

“The world was not built in one day. How do you know that?”

“They told you everything that glitters is not gold. But, they didn’t tell you what it is!”

“They told you a bird in hand is better than two in the bush. The truth I tell you, three birds in the bush is the best of all, because you made the spring come earlier this year.”
