Lori and I
moved from Los Angeles, CA to rural Idaho with Lori's two boys. This was due to safety reasons as twice Lori went to pick the boys up at school, there was a nut running in the neighborhood with a gun. I knew rural Idaho
was a great place to raise kids, so we packed up and moved here in the summer of 1999.
We opened an independant, mom and pop video store in 2001. We did this with borrowed funds in the hope that our investment
would reap profits, sooner then later. As with any new business, it takes time and we understand that.
Lori's two boy's, Matthew and Joshua, were receiving Social Security payments from their biological father, as he
was disabled. This also included medical insurance for the boys. Matthew has been diagnosed with ADHD and takes medication for that. Joshua has been diagnosed with enlarged adanoids and tonsils, which has led to severe
tooth alignment problems due to an enlarged tongue muscle. The boys are covered insurance wise until December 31st 2002 as their father has since returned to work now. We not only lost their health insurance, but the
disability payments are due to stop then also.
Lori and I have struggled to make ends meet with the video store and her job also. Lori works on average 50 hours a week while Tom puts in 76 hours a week in the video
store. With the loss of the disability payments PLUS the added cost of health care for the boys, we are in dire straits. Matthews meds for his ADHD run $87.50 a month and only god knows how much Joshuas medical problems
will add up to. Plus the added strain of covering our debt from the store, as the store is still operating at a loss.
All told, our debt amounts to just over $50,000 plus the monthly expense of meds for Matthew. I
know this sounds like alot, but if everybody that visits this page was to send us a dollar or five dollars, then our burden would be lifted. It's similar to that movie " Pay it Forward", do a favor for three people, who
do a favor for three more each and so on. Eventually it reaches back to you.
