THE "NOT FINAL"
AMERITECH YELLOW PAGES 'CONTRACT'

I just received the copy of my 'contract' in the mail.  This 'document' adds more proof that I was tricked into paying for an ad I did not agree to and did not create.

I have patiently explained that when I left Jake Tanner, the paper I signed was supposed to be a tentative, in Jake's own words, "a 'Hold-a-spot' in case I decided to buy the ad.  Think about it.  If I were a liar, I would have just said I didn't sign the 'contract' at all, but that is not the case.  I signed this under Jake Tanner's false pretenses that it was not a final contract, I even wrote "Not final contract" on it - the rest is Jake Tanner's creation.

If you will look closely at the copy of the paper I signed, you will note a few revealing things.

When Mr. Tanner asked me to sign this paper, I told him that it looked too much like a contract to me.  He said this was not a contract, that it was just to "hold a spot" for if and when I would call and actually confirm an order and create my own ad

I then said, "Then you won't mind if I write a note on the paper stating that it is not a final contract."

He said, no, he wouldn't mind. So on the paperwork, I wrote exactly what you see,
"NOT FINAL CONTRACT" (I'm not sure if I wrote "until called", but it is possible that I did).
NOTE: October 14, 2002: I just found my original copy and no, I did not write anything but "not final contract.

MY COPY FOR COMPARISON WITH TANNER COPY

That was it.  When I left Jake Tanner sitting in that restaurant with this piece of paper, my note: "Not final contract" was the last thing written in that portion of the paper, my signature was on it, the quoted cost of the potential ad, and that was ALL.

The top portion where he put my "company name" (different than the name I told him I was going to register) was filled in on the left, not on the right, the date was not the 16th but the 6th (the date we met), the additional note, "up to July 5 for any changes" was not there, neither was the lines through my note nor Mr. Tanner's initials.  Jake Tanner filled out everything but my note and the $46.00 cost after I was gone.  He did not give me a copy, but promised to send me one, which he never did.  I have never seen this 'completed' piece of paper until it arrived in the mail yesterday, October 9, 2002.

For the first time, yesterday evening, I see that Mr. Tanner crossed out what I wrote and added what he wanted. The handwriting of his portion of my note is different.  I did not and do not write in caps.

The date beside me name is not my writing.  If I had been present when Mr. Tanner filled out the top portion of the "hold-a-spot" form, I certainly would have corrected him on my business name.

So there you have, right in front of your eyes ...proof that Mr. Jake Tanner made a fraudulent 'sale'.  Due to his misinformation, I am currently being dunned for a past due amount of $96 for an ad that isn't even mine in the Ameritech Yellow Pages.  I do not consider this my bill and the ad is not my ad!

MY ADS FOR COMPARISON WITH TANNER AD

Jake Tanner is, if we can go by this transaction, a fraud, a con artist, and I am very angry that Ameritech Yellow Pages has not done anything yet to make this right.  Here is enough proof for Ameritech Yellow Pages to question this entire shady transaction and any other Jake Tanner participated in.

As of today, Ameritech Yellow Pages nor their parent company has made any attempt to make this right. But, perhaps, they simply need to see this statement to relieve me of this uncalled for debt. Perhaps this is not an Ameritech Yellow Page's problem, but just a Jake Tanner problem. I await Ameritech Yellow Page's response to make my final decision.

NOTE: Is there anyone out there who cares enough for the small business to stand forth and share any mishaps that you may have had with Mr. Jake Tanner or the Ameritech company?

I hope to have a positive and honest response from Ameritech soon.
