My Steeleye Span Unoffical Homepage

Steeleye Span where formed in the summer of 1969 and are still going strong, still a favorite of many, it is possible that having been graced with Maddy Prior's unique vocal skills, together with Peter Knight's unparallelled fiddle virtuousity and Robert Johnson's accomplished guitar work, it is little wonder that Steeleye are still at the top of the "Folk Rock League" after all these years; and when you combine these enviable talents with a rhythm section possessing the quality and experience of Liam Genockey and Tim Harries, you have a line up that is a must for folk afficianados, and indeed all lovers of good music. The permanent return to the fold of Gay Woods appears to make steeleye; as she had not performed live with the band until 1994 on the 25th Anniversary Tour, although she actually sang on their first recording Hark The Village Wait, but the reunion was such a success that her vocals are now considered to be an integral part of the band's current musical make-up
