HOW LONG TO KEEP:
As
mehendi starts drying apply, a mixture of lemon juice and sugar with cotton.
Apply this mixture maximum 3 times. A person who perspires a lot should
apply only once. You can cover the mehendi with tissue paper if required, but it
should be aired well. Never pack the mehendi design with plastic for long, as
the design tends to spread. Keep mehendi for minimum 1 hour and maximum 12
hours. The longer you leave on the design the color will be darker. Also make
sure your hands are warm through out, if not take heat on your hands to give the
best results. Mehendi should be on the hands properly for the first 2-3 hours
after that if the mehendi starts flaking not to worry. 10 minutes before
removing the mehendi apply edible oil, the oil softens the mehendi and makes it
easy to remove the mehendi. Remove the mehendi with blunt side of the knife.
Remove excess oil with tissue. To get darker color, don't wash your hands for 8
hours after removing the mehendi. The right color comes after 18 hours to 24
hours. Chlorine water and salt water is bad for mehendi color, so avoid washing
the hands with that. Mehendi stays on the hands for 15 days, it fades away
gradually. Mehendi cannot be removed immediately, it takes time to fade out. One
can bleach the hands, to fade it out faster.
