The shalvar is a very wide pair of trouser like underpants, which sat under the zipouna. It was made very big in comparison to the female, tied at the waist and at the knees, the remaining material hung over the leg. This allowed it to "Fluff up" the Zipouna giving it an open Umbrella look. The shalvar came in many colours, like everything else it all depended on the colour of the Zipouna and the rest of the outfit. |
