Alexander Forbes departed from Cork in Ireland on 12/2/1820 and arrived in Si mon's Bay on 30/4/1820 at age 27 aboard the "East Indian" and was part of "Parker's Party" and accompanied his elder brother Edward, Edward's wife Harriet and their two young children. He eventually settled on the farm Waaiplaats, Trappe's Valley near Bathurst as a British settler. He has been described as a shoemaker. On 24th December 1834, tribesmen from across the Great Fish River , swept into the Albany District killing and looting farms. While Alexander Forbes' wife Jane managed to escape to the Staples farm with her six children, Alexander Forbes was massacred by tribesmen at age 41. It is likely that he was buried on the farm.
Alexander married Jane Thomas, aged 16, on 7/9/1826 when she signed the marriage certificate with a simple cross due to her young age. They had six children.
