Although
I am a Rajput by caste, but some how I didn't had much knowledge about
them. May be due to my studies or work, I was never close to my ethnic
origin. Moreover, living in the city like Bombay, left me with no
option but to be a part of culture that was never ours. But when I was
23 years, I decided to explore Rajasthan- the place where Rajput
actually originated and flourished. This was a wise decision on my
side as half of my family still reside in Rajasthan.
From Bombay, I booked my air tickets to Jaipur Airport. And from
there, I headed towards Hotel Mansingh. Since I was working as Senior
Manager in an multinational company, taking a room in a luxurious
hotel was not a problem. Thankfully, my subordinate, Adeesh, booked my
room through the site Rajasthan holiday -
http://www.rajasthan-holiday.com
Since
had most of my education from US, I had very little idea what
Rajasthan was all about. So, I had to take help of Internet to know
the regal state. Sites like Rajasthan India
http://www.rajasthanindia.com
and A to Z of Rajasthan - http://www.rajasthanatoz.com
and the official site of Rajasthan -http://www.rajasthantourism.gov.in
proved a complete travelguide to me. These sites had good amount of
information on Rajasthan.
Through these sites, I came to know that Rajasthan, once the home of
the Rajputs- a group of warrior clan, is the magical land where the
forts and palaces of amazing architectural beauty and luxury, still
stand testimony to its rich cultural heritage, reminding the romance
and chivalry, pride and honour, joy and warmth of Rajasthani people
Exploring
the beautiful cities of Rajasthan was a sheer joy and I visited all
the famous cities of Rajasthan that included Jaipur , Jodhpur , Alwar
, Bharatpur, Bikaner, Jaisalmer, Kota , Chambal; Mount Abu, Udaipur.
A page on Jaipur
http://www.edwebproject.org/rajasthan/jaipur.html
provided glimpse into the jaipur city displaying its culture and
people.
As a part of my tour, I also chose the famous Desert safari of
Rajasthan that took me to the interiors of desert villages and helped
me to understand the culture of Rajasthan preserved in the traditional
villages.
Information produced on the site of Tourism Ministry -http://www.tourisminindia.com/circuits/jjbb.htm,
acqauinted me with the various tourist circuit prevailing in
Rajasthan. Although, I booked my Desert Safari tour from the site
Visit Rajasthan - http://www.visit-rajasthan.com
And believe me! I had an overwhelming experience while exploring
Desert on the back of Camel.
I also encountered the dynamic wildlife of Rajasthan - that included
Ranthambore Tiger Reserve, Sariska Tiger Reserve and Desert national
Park. But to be frank I was quite fascinated by the Forts and Palaces
of Rajasthan. These Forts and Palaces were quite exotic and depicted
the royal splendor of the ancient past.
Being
new to the place, I was quite skeptical about the people and culture
but infact I was quite amused by the hospitality of the Rajasthani
people. They never let me felt that I was an outsider. In fact ,
another thing that tremendously helped me on my tour was Internet.
Some other sites that guided me in my tour to Rajasthan were
Rajasthan India Tours- http://www.rajasthan-india-tours.com
and Rajasthan Royal Tours
http://www.royalrajasthantours.com
Over all my tour to Rajasthan was fantastics as it proved to be
educational trip as well tour filled with joy and amusement.
